Clutch adjustment?

So i got the 3.5 stage clutch in the eclipse. Bled it a few times now and installed a new slave clutch cylinder for it. My question is that sometimes i seem to need to give it more gas then a regular clutch to keep it from jerking like its ready to die. This normal for higher stage clutches? This is my first so im used to stock and just want to confirm. There are no grinding and it was aligned properly. The only thing i can think of is that its somehow getting air in the lines if its not normal. Thanks!

Nope, that's normal. They don't slip anywhere near as much, and people tend to have to hold higher RPM on takeoff to allow for it to be smooth. That's why staged clutches say stuff like "recommended for drag racing and mild street use", or "recommended for track use", etc. Because they suck to daily. Stage 3.5 is pretty high up, a 1 or 2 are generally where people go if it's not a heavily modded track car

The specs were not all that much different when i was looking other then handling a bit more HP and the price was the same so i said screw it. Its fine to daily other then i gotta rev it up more then normal. Just wanted to make sure that i wasnt just imagining something. Thanks! Oh and i guess im gonna be keeping the eclipse since not much decent interest and i still like the car.

It's not a solid ring, right? It has little clutch material faces around it? And they're probably kevlar rather than organic compound

It'll use high pressure over a smaller surface area of a higher friction material. That'll change the driving dynamic a lot. I've seen many civics running high stage clutches, and they just have to rev it right up to take off to allow it to slip without being jerky... I hope yours isn't like those, they kinda suck to be in

Ahhh. Ok, so similar style, not one with pucks. What you're feeling is the lack of intertia. I think the stock flywheel on the GT is 23lbs, your new one is 11lbs. So it doesn't carry as much energy while just spinning on its own, and you instead have to apply that on takeoff.

It's down to the flywheel being lighter rather than clutch plate design. Seeing that, I'm confident in that answer.
