If it cleared and has not came back, just call it a fluke. When there is a hard weather change things can happen, maybe a little moisture in the system froze something and caused it to trip a code. Then again, maybe it's a good time to do some reading in the manual and be prepared to clean those parts, or change them. You know how Murphy's Law goes, it won't break until there is 12" of snow, the temps are in teens, and there's a 40 MPH wind screaming down your back, LOL!!

When I changed out my transmission oil for royal purple that was one of the best things I've ever done for the car. Give it a try (Assuming you drive a manual)

Surprised you're not frozen to death after that in Winterpeg

-20 celcius right now, and washed my car. Just like i have every damn day since the salt trucks came out. Is there such a thing as "over washing"? Hahaha. I wonder what it could do to the paint, if anything. Thoughts?

EDIT: Now it's the 5th but whatever. Removed the tint from my headlights at 2am. I CAN SEE NOW!!! Nobody ever EVER EVER(!!!!) tint their headlights with stock halogens. Don't do it. So bad. Looks cool, but it's so bad.

MarionCobretti has a spectacular aura about
Oh, nothing much...just picked up a set of mint Enkei RP-02's in 18x8, wrapped in some brand new tires (Cooper CS5 Ultras in 245/45/18). Guy was selling the whole package for $600 on Craigslist, which is about what a decent set of tires alone would have cost me (apparently they were way too big for his car). I wasn't super jazzed about the Coopers, but the Enkeis are 18 lbs. apiece (pretty sure the stockers are 24), so cutting 25% of the unsprung weight from each corner of the car should hopefully offset any handling sharpness lost from going with a non-UHP tire. They are V-rated, though, so we'll see. Anyway, it's not like the thing is a track rat, it's my daily driver.

I'll put up some pics tomorrow, as it's dark out now and the Eclipse is dirty anyway. A for sale thread for the OEM 18's/Eagle RS-A's should be up soon as well, as soon as I can get pics of them.

EDIT: Yikes! Stock rims are 26 lbs.

It's not just salt season, but drift season too!

I get free use of an automated carwash, would cost about $330 to use it every day for a month. I work there, so it's not a bad perk. I call it "testing" on the paperwork hahaha.

In the summer I hand detail it after running through, and seeing my sparkly car beside it inspires people to try it out. Sadly, they don't ask me if I use the wash or not... But even so, it's great in the winter. Heated water, heated wash bay, touchless, cleans underneath, and we check the water softness religiously. No water re-use.

I didn't even bother getting my car undercoated. I'd rather not have the thick oily mess while I work on it, and I'm sure it'd wash off anyway!!!

Side note, got to play with a cop this morning. Literally. Him and I met up in a parking lot, shot the shit for an hour, then played racecar. We can outbrake and out corner police chargers

That's what my car needs right now, a car wash!! The day after Christmas we had a blizzard, closed roads all over the place with snow drifts. Drifts anywhere from 4' to 20'. If you own a Chevy Tahoe... you are no match for a 4' snow drift, LOL!! Some idiot drove into a 4' snow drift, it stopped them dead in their tracks, just like running into a parked car. Trashed there front end as if the did hit a parked car!!

Just goes to show, you can pay for a car and the maintenance/repairs that go along with ownership, but there is no amount of money that can buy common sense.

I almost hit a 4" drift in a grand am. Instead it was the 1 and only time I ran a stop sign and made an illegal left turn (through an on ramp)

Cleaned my interior today. Armor All'd all the plastic inside, made it nice and clean+bold again. Needs to be vacuumed badly. Somehow leaves keep finding their way in

Oh yeah, did timing belt years ago at 60k. I just passed 90k miles this month. The CV boots were the first 'repair' I've had to do, so knocked out all the other stuff to stay safe/fresh and ready for track day at end of the month. But yes, a lot of boxes checked!

Not really what I did for my car, but rather what my car did to me. Just up and stalled at a light for no reason. Clutch was down in 1st gear on a downhill, -10C outside, had half a tank of 91, car just died. Battery light illuminated. Turned over on the first crank and had no further problems since. Odd.

Winter driving can cause condensation to build in the gas tank or fuel lines, this was very common in the old days when gas tanks were not a sealed system. Get a pint of white gas, or even some injector cleaner should due to get rid of any moisture in the gas tank.

Quite a few people have recommended I try seafoam, would it be safe to use on our engines?

Let me know how gutting the manifold goes for you. It's a controversial mod. You may lose scavenging, but you also lose a lot of resistance...

I've used it on my GS too. I followed the Seafoam guide on the club and haven't had problems

According to some people on YouTube (Eric the car guy included), spraying distilled water through the throttle body while holding the revs at around 2500-3000 with the engine at operating temperature will do a better job at decarbonizing the motor and be much cheaper as well. Has anyone tried this method?
