Wasn't sure which section I should put this in. But seen the most awful thing of my life as an eclipse owner today.. My new neighbor had a friend come by and they had a nice looking silver 4g. I got talking with the guy that owned it and thats when he spoke words I never wanted to hear or want to hear again.. He some how did an engine swap but it wasn't a lancer engine or anything like that. Not sure how he did it but managed to put a Honda engine in.. I figured there was no way it would work. But he popped the hood. He irritated me more by saying how it's a better engine.

Fitment was awful looking even if that wasn't bad enough.

The time and money he must have spend to do this screwed up converstion
he could have done something great to the 4g.

He said he pulled it out of a 06 Civic .
Offered to let me take it for a ride. But I couldn't bring myself to do it. Besides the weather sucks here anyway.

unless it was a si he slowed down the car. even if it was a si that motor makes less torque then the gs and with the added weight it would still be slower then a stock gt

Nope didn't ask him. Was to busy trying to keep from wanting to slam the hood on his head.

Next time I see him over there I'll snap pictures for you guys.
Was just shocked that he'd do that to a 4g . Plus was let down because thought maybe I'd be getting to know another eclipse owner . The out side of the car was nicely done too. I assume he's got money to burn.

I to would think it would be a loss in power . But maybe because of some of the mod options for the engine. Don't know I didn't think that far into it at the time.

Sorry if I hurt your feelings but having a friend that work on Hondas, me been inside a well done Honda Racing car and knowing the potential, the power, the easy fix and the amount of mods you can add to the engine, not to mention affordable. The ONLY thing I will agree is that indeed is a better engine than the 4G engine.

The rest is F*** Up, what he did should be a law violation punish by 5 years rapped in jail and the removal of the car.

Don't get me wrong I understand Honda's can be decent. I'm not a fan but can respect some of them. But switching one's engine to an Eclipse is wrong. Same would go for an eclipse engine in a Honda. If they were simmilar engines it would be one thing. but their not.

That's what I meant to say. That the only part I agree with you friend is that Honda engines are better. But the concept of putting a Honda into an Eclipse, the money spent, the modifications he made, etc ,etc deserve jail time. So I only agree with the statement of the engine been better thats it.

im wondering how much weight the engine he put in was designed to pull.if it was 1000lbs less than the 4g,i wouldnt expect the engine to be holding up very long ha

Well you guys are forgetting that if he mod the engine, it will be easy to pull the chassis of the 4G. I mean the GS can do it and a Honda engine with a few mods will bypass the GS engine by far. Now if he leaves the engine stock then yes it wont last long. Now Honda engine could be an Integra Engine Twin Cam with Vtec and that will pull the 4G just fine.

I think you guys have the idea that he put a Honda Lawn mower engine in it.

Oh that's a true statement I am intrigue how he was able to do this. I only will give him props if it looks nice and clean but if it looks like it doesn't belong there some one need to steal his car.

I actually saw a Corvette at a car show that someone had put a civic shell on. So it was a rwd LS1 Honda.

Just to play devil's advocate. You could say he made the honda worse by putting it into the 4g. I'll be the first one to say its a much better performance chassis. And yes as already said, a k20 engine has WAY more potential than the gs's 2.4. Now if he ripped out the 3.8, that's blasphemy!
