1977 Triumph Spitfire with 4G driveline

I recently completed a project where I dropped a Toyota 165 hp 20V 4 AGE into a Triumph Spitfire. Lots of fun, but now I have been bitten by the power vampire and want more. Looking into possibility of using a 2005 or later 3.8L Eclipse driveline mounted in a mid engine location. Track width is an issue, Spitfire is 49". Can I use a 4G 3.8l with a 3G manual transmission and front suspension? How long are drive axles, may look at cutting them down and revising suspension to reduce track width. What transmission options do I have? Anyone out there who is interested in helping, I would love to get some pics of engine, engine bay, driveline, as well as possibly getting some measurements relating to engine/driveline width, height, relationship to axles. Looks like most of the motor hangs to the front of the axles, which would be great in my case as far as weight distribution, since it would bring weight more to the center of the car, but might be a problem as far as finding available space. If there is anyone in the Reading or Harrisburg area who would let me take some pics and measurements, that would be great!

You used the transmission? You made a 1977 Spitfire into a FWD car?

The 75 Spitfire one I already did used a Toyota 4age 20 v with an 83 Corolla 5 speed, RWD. I am hoping to use the entire driveline and front suspension carrier/assembly from an Eclipse 3.8L dropped back in a mid engine position with the steering rack locked out or otherwise replaced with solid arms. Engine and trans would technically be from a FWD car, but would be located in the back to create a RWD vehicle in the SPitfire. Lots of issues to overcome. Spitfire track width is only 49", height at back from ground level is only 30". Not sure if I will modify Spitfire body by raising, widening, possibly lengthening it, or will shorten axles and suspension components on Eclipse driveline. A lot of investigating to do before thing one gets done!

I know the drill when it comes to money disappearing on these projects. Last one with the Toyota motor started with a $600 engine and transmission and a $500 donor car, but somehow ended up in the $8,000 range till all was said and done !
Wish you were closer. If I do not come up with someone closer, any chance I could schedule a day/time to come by and take some measurements and pictures? Not entirely familiar with the Eclipse breed yet, looks like 2007 GS has the 4 cylinder, not the 6. Is yours V6 with manual trans or other?
