I have to agree with jimbo here. mitsu's main car is the evo. once they started bringing the awd evo platform to the states, the awd option for the eclipse ended because they dont want the eclipse to out sell their main cash crop.
now if you ask me thats a dumb idea if ever there was one. i see it this way, in the past few years the evo's main competition was the wrx, and while the evo did succeed in spanking the wrx on quite a few instances, if mitsu would have put an awd eclipse in the linup too then they would have completely cornered the market for compact awd sport coupes. 2 on 1 always nets a bigger ass whoopin than 1 on 1.
Another reason they didnt add the awd is the eclipse had the potential to outshine the evo. most will agree that the eclipse styling is much better than the evos but the evo has a far greater edge performance wise. if that edge was taken away then the eclipse would be the victor but it would completely defeat the purpose of bringing the evo to the states in the first place.
