f/ic problem..

im trying to get the f/ic calibrated to my ecu but whenever i try to connect the f/ic to the aem software on the laptop i get a message saying "you are trying to connect something other than a f/ic8, please connect a f/ic8 and try again" what software did you guys download and did you get it from the aem forum?

also can you do the calibration with the bypass installed? or do you have to have the car shut off and harness connected to the f/ic

You need the FI/C 6 version

when i click install on the large blue and black screen it also says Error,/REGSERVER not found. press finish to exit

i just installed that one and it says thew firmware version (1.31) is not compatible when i try to push the connect button.
whats the next available firmware number?

Yes you can calibrate with the bypass, I actually suggest it. And just check the most current version software on the AEM forum page. Do you have Windows 7? thats what I am running this on.

no im using xp. its basically a blank laptop we use to put extra stuff on. but i am running the bypass but it came up with that firmware shit when i clicked connect. the forum page is screwy and not very organized so idk which download to look for..

when it told me that the firmware version was not compatible it also said to refer to the re-flashing section in the manual, which i dont have

I wouldn't use 3.05 tried it out and my car died a few times so I switched back to 3.04 and she is running normal again.

You might have to update your firmware

I think x300 and z110 don't remember exactly. If you try them out the worst that will happen is it won't work and then you try a new one

No it doesn't matter just matters what works best on your car.

there are firmware updates on the aem forum. Don't remember which one we need for our car. BrianJ mentioned it somewhere on here not sure where

ok its 3.04 now and i just flashed to z110 and x300 because the z104 file wouldnt load to it. yeah i cant seem to find the firmware download on that site at all..its driving me nuts.

ok so after me and my dad messed with it for a while we found the download to fix the usb drive but now i need to know if i want the calibration to go from the pc to fic or from the fic to the pc..

Well the FIC has no map in it so it would be poitnless to go from FIC to PC, when I load a map I always choose PC to FIC. Same when I calibrated it, if it works the other way around during calibration though more power to ya. How you like it so far?

Mine ran really rough with the FIC in at first too, dont let that discourage you. Once you find that little window of good fuel you will be super happy.

Honesly I didnt change much from the map that I uploaded from Mecks, that pretty much did the trick I didnt have to do much work to the fuel as much as ignition timing (but you shouldnt have to worry about that I need it for boost) ummm the smaller the volts the less you have to change it to change what happens to the car. Does that make sense at all. Like if something is 1.70 volts and you change it down to 1.68 you will feel a change just as much as if you change something from 4.50 down to 4.30 something kinda like that. those numbers arent excact but I was just giving you an example, its all trial and error. Plus I dont have my car so I cant begin to help you or give you much advice rite now beside what I have already tried.

Start with the basics like a good Idle, and coasting speed. Nothing is going to happen overnight with the F/iC, the sooner you realize that the better. I'm not saying you wont accomplish what you want, it just wont happen over the weekend.

Yeah that makes sense. After just going through the whole install and figuring out the right software I'm tired of looking at it lol. But ill try to see if I can post a pic of my info up on here. Thanks for explaining that tho

correct me if im wrong but after i calibrate the fic with tps and rpm am i supposed to load the passthrough map to it? i plugged the fic into the car and ran it down the road to log and it was running very rough so did it maybe already have a map in it since it was used?
