Question trying to avoid paying a mechanic :/

sooo my car is still being a bitch. i went to oreilly this morning and the code was p1047 or something which is the too lean code. idk what to do...ive been fidgiting with the o2 sensors for days now and nothing is working. car boggs down every like 20seconds while driving. sometimes its hard just to push the car past 2k rpms cuz its bogging so bad. anyone else have any ideas? i really dont wanna pay more money on this issue.

Ok so this could be totally wrong but maybe you have some kind of carbon build up on your o2 or maybe one of the wires are burnt up? Maybe it's not plugged in completely by the header? Idk I haven't heard of this happening but that is my best guess or maybe if you have spacers from rre they are clogged? just tryin to help

Ya that is true I had a wire get fried and had problems till the car die because I couldn't't track it down. With the car not running though I had plenty of time to find it and it was a melted wire.

should say on the slip, I had carbon build up on my piston which caused it to fail, which ended up in a new short block

yeah my guess would be o2 sensor issues. perhaps clogged or too much build up. I would start with a visual examination of the sensors themselves, carefully clean them, and see if that buys you anything. sounds like ECU is not getting the proper reading of how much fuel is actually in there - which could be caused by clogged o2 sensors.
how many miles are on the car? you will likely need a tuning shop to help trouble shoot this, as the dealer or O'riellies just isn't going to know enough

Mine are drilled out a little more than that. Try a little more..or as much as u can go. Also be sure the sensors are plugged in the right spot on the harness.

and im slightly confused as to what exactly the spacer does...does it just keep it farther out of the exhaust and keep it cooler?

I just noticed in your pic and i dont know if it makes a difference or not but the bung that was welded in is at an angle. So even with the spacer on it the exhaust is going to be pushed towards the sensor. But like i said i dont know if it matters. Make sure the o2 sensors are plugged into the right plug on the harness, thats if you mixed them up somehow. The spacers you ordered and made should work unless theres something else wrong...And the engines awesome but the ecu gets bitchy. Take your time with it.

Oh and next to last resort..Extend your "lower" o2 sensor wires run them down behind the 3rd cat "if you have one" weld 2 bungs there. Your ecu will read that theres a cat in the system.

yeah i still have the third cat, should i do that? where can i buy the proper kit or whatev to extend the wires? also how would i fill the lower o2 sensors on the header? and behind im assuming would be the side towards the back of the car after the cat

I've got some plugs at my shop that cap off the bungs. I'll see if i can round them up.
Theres a thread somewhere that joeyb posted that had our type of o2 wiring extended. I would do that...But before anything make sure the sensors are good so u dont have to spend alot
