Are these legit

So I was looking around for headers and stumbled upon these
OBX Exhaust Header 06-09 Mitsubishi Eclipse 2.4L Mivec | eBay
are they real OBX or are they going to be knockoffs?

Consider this (I dont know if they are real or not) Even if they are real previous members in the past have had issues with OBX Headers, not everyone but a few. Do it rite the first time so you dont have to go back and fix things later, even if it hurts youre wallet its always worth it in the end.

Okay thanks. Guess I'll be avoiding them then. I had seen elsewhere on here that OBX was a viable solution for headers so...

Well I'd have a shop install them, not confident in my own abilities when it comes to these, so would that help to mitigate any potential problems? What I've read talks a lot about having to weld o2 sensors on and I figure a shop could do that easily.

As easily as a shop can do that (which they can) Is as easily as they can tack on extra expenses just be prepared for that if anything else.

Yeah my dad is fronting the install bill so not a problem lol.

So the issues that ive read with these headers are that they crack...does this happen often?

The header doesnt crack theres a bracket towards the bottom that bolts to your engine. It sometimes cracks slightly. Im not sure why. This header is a quality header but requires alot or work to install. then you have to get your ecu to accept the change. Theres alot of people on here that have problems with these. All you can do is have a shop put in a o2 bung and space the sensors. It SHOULD work after that with no problems. I dont understand why everyones having trouble

Ripps are not bad headers I have them and no problems. There more of a pain to install because the welding and extending the o2s plus there over priced. The obx are the same just moved the o2 Spencer placing.

Aight, and odds are they are going to have o2 bungs at the shop? or am I going to have to buy them online.

If I heat wrapped them would that prevent cracking? I know the cracking isnt because of the heat but logically my mind is saying that something holding them together would prevent cracking.
Getting my ecu to accept the change...would that require the f/ic?

Rapping will not help creaking but still a good idea for the creaking have the shop weld in a flexing pipe. The shop may carry o2 bunges but don't think spacers. I got my spacers at auto zone.

Will Do! I have a completely stock system btw.
I will have the before and after video. Sounds a little bleh because of the auto adjusting microphone, but im sure there will be a difference!

Its probably going to take me all day to get them on. Even though my car only has 10k miles, that virtual school exam is gonna suck real big ones... and I think my dad wants the garage for his 87 vette so Im gonna have to do this crap in the dirt. And I have no experience under the hood except for general knowledge... So we will see how "bolt on" this kit seems to be.
Its made very well from what I can see. I can take pictures of it if you want.

Basically the answers are higher up in the thread but you have to bolt them on with o2 bungs and spacers somehow
not that I understand what that means at all

roman lujan has a spectacular aura about
what you need to weld is the last section of the boltin pipe to the rest of the exhaust and the you need to make a hole to held a 02 sensor in the thrid pipe from right to left put it alog the same area that the others are. with althat done buy spacers they run like 6 dollar then they need to be drilled out with a 1/2 drill bit you want to put these on the shortes 02 wires thses will go on the second and froth pipe hope that clears that up

I just took the excess plugs and taped them to the frame... No CEL, no worries. Its tack welded right now. Didn't need spacers. Didn't need to drill. Going to get it welded by a buddy, couldnt fit my mask beneath the car, so he can work off some favors by welding it. Sounds freaking sick... I looooove it.

Edit: He said he has a bung, so the O2 will have a home soon...
And the flange from the old pipe welded to the new pipe....

Headers should have nothing to do with that... As long as you have a catalytic converter you should be fine? You have to be... The CO2 sensors haven't went off, which means its acceptable. Am I right, or am I just being ignorant?
Im just trying to logically make sense of your situation.

~~~UPDATE~~~ The 4th O2 sensor is just hanging on the firewall for now, until thursday when it will get pro welded and new exhaust, and bung.
I got a CEL... Lmfao Sh**. Thats gonna be annoying.
Eh, hopefully the bung will fix it.
VIDEO OF DRIVING IT AROUND:
YouTube - ‪Driving around with the obx headers‬‏
Gets a little chokey, but you can feel the power winding up... Its just amazing. It doesn't like to idle or Cruise... at like 60, its decent. Little shakey. But I have it tack welded right now, with stock exhaust, and no CAI. I'll keep you updated on this at thursday.. When it gets done.
Glad I can contribute to the forums!
