Remove intake for tb bypass

No idea how to disconnect the intake, screwed around a little with those silver rings but got nowhere, need to take it off to do the tb bypass, what do I do.
Intake is an injen...which probably doesn't matter

you mean how do you remove the intake piping? sounds like you have a CAI on there? just loosen the clamps and pull the bitch off. make sure you unplug your MAF sensor so you don't damage the wiring while you are removing it and setting it aside. lemme know if that's not clear.

remove your bolt from your vibration mount and then remove the rings from the throttle body, then pull it out the tb, and waahlaah

^ah ok so yeah - it's held in there by those clamps. just loosen them until you can pull the piping off. looks like you have a few other tiny hoses to disconnect from the piping before you remove it, and again, don't forget the MAF sensor. be careful with it.

you may have a bracket or two that needs to be unbolted. just find any point where the pipe is connected/bolted to the car, remove the bolts, and you are solid.

hope that helps. lemme know if you need further assistance.

no need to remove the TB itself to do the bypass.

Yeah I'm just struggling a little, those rings are as loose as they get at this point so it's just disconnecting the hose, do I just pull hard or is there a trick to it

depends on what clamp is on there - I think I see the kind where you use pliers to push the two tabs together to loosen it, then pull.

can you get me a pic from a couple angles so I can see where it's connected to your car? anywhere you see it connected snap me a pic and I'll get you through it, bro

Aight, I'll do that in about 5 min, sitting down to eat dinner now

Edit: Decided to wait until later in the week to do this mod, since I'll have the car jacked up and intake off to install gauges anyway

what you need to do is search for the HOW TO: TB bypass......

lol that's wut I did had no problems with the install under my intake.

If you're afraid to take stuff apart under the hood you probably shouldn't be under the hood in the first place.

Thank you so much for the sarcastic response, contrary to popular belief I did actually search and I do know what I am doing under the hood. In the how to tb bypass writeup it states that you have to take your intake piping off and tie it off to the side so it doesnt get in your way. I tried reaching under my intake to do the installation but unfortunately my hands would not fit, so as a result I have to take it off. Lastly I'm not afraid to take stuff apart, I am just having trouble taking stuff apart, theres a difference.

hmmmmmmmmmmm......still not totaly seeing where your pipe is connecting to your engine bay, but the bottom line is that you need to unbolt wherever that is, take off the vacuum tube w/ the pliers, unplug the MAF sensor, loosen the metal clamps, and it should be loose. then just be careful as you work it out of there. I am assuming your pipe goes down into your bay quite a ways? I had the SRI and it wasn't bad at all. how about a full angle pic so I can see the whole thing

Yeah I know where its bolted on, I'll unbolt that, my issue is that once the metal clamps are loose its still really tight in those little...things, I dont know what theyre called but they are the bands that say injen on them, like so tight within them that it cant be pulled or worked out at all, I'm thinking of putting a bag of ice on them in the hopes that the metal will contract.
Its been stupid hot here so I'm thinking the pipe has swelled quite a bit

^hmmmm.....I guess just wiggle and twist it around on the pipe to get it loose, may even try a lube of some kind. anyone have any other ideas? damn it sounds like that thing just doesn't want to come off of there.....who the hell put that one there? what did they use? contact cement or something? it should NOT be that hard to remove.

the "rubber thing with injen on it" may have melted onto the pipe (doubt it, but you said it was hot)

that rubber is made to withstand heat... lol anyway. it could have created a seal from the heating and cooling cycle. get a flat head screw driver and CAREFULLY (dont wanna mess up the polished aluminum) break it free. happens to me all the time.and for that hose, same thing. use pliers to open the clamp and move it mid way down, use a flathead and break it loose. should come right out

I have some haterade, mommy and daddy took the car to a shop and paid for a ten minute job plus the cai.
You lucky bastard.
I have to pay for all my shit myself. And deal with a bitching wife when i do.
And do all the damn work to the car "cause its cheaper" you know what, i take my damn car to the shop for an oil change. Not cause i cant do it, because i can afford it damnit. And i did my time with wrenches in the engine cowel of a c-130 on the flight line in all types of weather. And you cant get a rubber hose off. Shame. shame. Dont put ice on it. Use canned air or "dust off" hold the can upside down and sray it around the metal. It WILL contract it within 2 seconds. Eat your wheaties and Tug hard.

Yet a college education to break one !!

im a Detroit diesel engine tech and anytime i have a problem getting a silicone hose off (which happens all the time) i just grab my trusty booger picker (thats what we call them) and pull that bitch off. if its still hard to get off after uve ran the BP all the way around the circumference of the pipe/hose then while the BP is in between the pipe and hose spray some penetrating oil or wd40 in there and then work the BP around the circumference of the pipe/hose again to get the penetrating oil around the whole thing to lube it all up and then pull on it, it will come off with ease then.

mine looks exactly like the top one in this pic........

It's kind of the same principle as the Cold Air Intake. The TB By-pass is the diversion of the heater hoses that run hot fluid through the TB, By removing these heaters hose from the TB, you remove that heat transfer to the TB.

The next step would be installing the intake manifold gasket, and throttle body gasket to prevent heat soak from the engine block.

Do this mods work and add HP, YES!!

Hey guys what's up. I been looking to do a swap from my gs throttle body to a gt throttle body and am also looking into changing my stock intake manifold to a better one. I been doing reasearch but I can't seem to find anything on where to purchase and aftermarket intake mani and throttle body for my 2007 gs. If anyone knows a website that sells thar for the 4g it would really be helpful. Thank you.

Thats really cool, maybe you should search and make a new thread instead of derailing one.

Its been stupid hot here so I'm thinking the pipe has swelled quite a bit
OTC Tools & Equipment 4521 Hose Removal Tool

use as ammfb described above, just a larger version for hoses works better versus the tiny pick set.

also use a small amount of silicone grease where the hose meets metal on install, and it will vastly facilitate the next removal. and dont overtighten these rubber hose clamps, just snug them down is adequate

Just a suggestion if you get the upper part loose and are struggling with the bottom end. Remove the window washer bottle by disconnecting the rubber hose and lifting straight up on the bottle. This will give you a little more clearance when trying to remove lower pipe with the filter attached.

removing window washer fluid would not benefit him since it is on the passenger side. The anti-freeze reservoir is the bottle you are talking about. I loosened mine and that was good enough.
