rod/piston clarification needed.

ok im looking to buy forged internals for the engine. i know the engine can use 4g63 rods and pistons. my question is the standard length rods will work if i use 87mm stroker pistons. or am i confused about this.

If 87mm fits in the block, then yes.

What is the size of the gs cylinder and length of the rods. Because the evo has a strocker kitp up to 2.4 but I don't know if the crank will fit or if the piston will be the right size on a gs. Maybe check out evom.com see if the lancer guys know. The evo and 4g69 are on the same forum over there.

i have been searching on that site and this one for info so i wouldnt be posting tons of questions. this is the info that kinda confused me.
The 4G69 uses the same length rods as the EVO with a longer stroke of 100mm. EVO pistons, even forged ones can be used in the 4G69. However, these pistons need to be 87mm. That's the only downside. The solution is to get stroker pistons for the EVO in 87mm. 87mm pistons for an EVO, however, are not easily sourced. They more than likely would have to be made custom by JE, Wiseco, Arias, etc

4g63 evo rods will fit but not the standard 87 mm wiseco pistons or any 87 mm will fit our block have to be custom made either from wiseco, cp, or je pistons. Try and use the standard 87 mm wiseco with the 4g63 rods and pistons will hit the valves. So you can either use the 87 mm pistons and custom make the rods. Or use the 4g63 rods and custom make the pistons no way around it.

Ask RRE Thay sell wiseco pistons for the 69 and know a lot about the 63. Maybe you can use the 100mm and the RRE pistons.

I installed the rods so they do fit 4g63-4g64 evo 7 bolt is a direct fit how do I know cause I installed them on the 4g 69 it s a direct fit. But the pistons have to be custom made . If your serious i would reccomend sending stock piston to je or wiseco and have them make you something for boost. Even look it up on evom forums on the 4g69 they will tell you the rods will fit not the pistons nobody has a low compression piston in stock for the 4g. How do I know I called every piston company and they said they have to custom make it.
