Best aftermarket exhaust system for performance purposes
I'm sure this has been asked before, but just curious on peoples opinions. Wondering what would be my best bet for an exhaust system for max performance increase on my '06 GS.

Yes it has. If you are still using stock exhaust manifold no exhaust change will really help you, it'll just change the sound. Now if you are running a header (RRE,OBX,Ripp) that's a different story 2.5 piping would be the biggest you need put a high flow cat nice resonator and free flowing muffler and you're as good as gold!
Turbo charging same set up but you can upgrade to 3" piping. Stock piping is not the problem it's 2 1/8" piping which works fine, it's the exhaust manifold that slows things down Use that search button, and you'll find a lot of good info.

thanks man, yeh search buttons make me mad lol. People word things differently and I feel like I always miss out on valuable info. But I plan on upgrading my headers in the process.

I'm on my second custom exhaust setup now. 2.5 cat back no resonator, with a cherry bomb glasspack muff into dual 4" tips, and I must say besides being loud as hell I lost a lil power, thinking too free flowing.
My last setup was a 2.25 resonator back with a dynomax welded ultra flow muff sounded great and decent power. Running a Fujita CAI and RRE header with both setups. I plan on scrapping the cherry bomb and putting two resonators in its place not too worried about the loss in power cuz I'm in process of a turbo build, and the loss of back pressure will actually help with the turbo.

I eventually want to start a turbo build. I have a lot of things I have to handle first. I was looking into RRE Headers soon. If I'm going turbo should I go ahead with the 3" now?

No, what you need to do is just buy a muffler take it to your local muffler shop and have them weld it on to your stock piping. Done!
Putting 3" on there now and your car will lose a lot of power. When running a turbo I said you "can" upgrade to 3", but 2.5" is fine for the boost this car uses. When I dyno'd my car (your other thread question) it was with the stock piping. And before your start another thread. No, they do not make a turbo kit for our car, and if you piece it together and do all the work yourself it'll still cost you around $3,000 someone doing the work be ready to pay $5-6,000+
