help!! with sportronic tran!! pls
ok i jus bought a 06 eclipse gs auto trans!! and with the sportronic option!!! my ques is is it a good trans to be racin with???? if i add a turbo to it is it worthed??? i raced a little honda with the sportronic option and im surprise it picks up really good for an auto!!! but i think is not enough power for me so waty u guys think???? is a good trans ?

Okay, lets start at the top.
Sportronic is a decent transmission, its not going to give you the control of a manual but its decent for when you hop on the highway and need to kick someone's ass. Your transmission is not whats going to be giving you power, if you think that you don't know shit about how a car works. You can't just "add" a turbo to the engine, you need a full turbo build which will cost upwards of 3 grand to complete. What you need to do is one of two things, if you want to go fast 1. Sell your GS and get a GT 2. Go full bolt-on plus nitrous on your gs Either of these things will put you at around 230WHP, which is not a lot but...its enough

He is right about goin gt. My ex has an 07 gs and I have an 07 gt and from aftermarket to aftermarket the gt gains a crap tone more hp from bolt on parts. Just more capable I guess. When I first dynod my car it was 197 whp. Dissapointing. But with just cat back afc and cai it was already climbin over 270 whp. Iv put in ripp long tube headers and removed cat converter sence then and havnt dynod just yet. Just to throw some numbers out there for yea.

You still don't seem to get it
Youre not going to be modifying the transmission, you'll be modifying the engine.

Well now I feel rather terrible
The GS is not a fast car, thats it end of story period, If you want a fucking race car buy a gt. The gs can be quick with full bolt on and nitrous, or a full turbo build, but it will never be "fast"

The automatic slushboxes make the poor little 4-cyl even slower. Manual transmissions in most cars can be as much as a full second slower in the quarter. The nature of the torque converter slows rotational mass quite a bit, sadly.

Autos are usually called slushboxes because of the torque converters which are full of tranny fluid that requires centrifugal force to engage the tranny with the engine. It is a fitting name, though.
