For people interested in R&D for new GS parts

Hey everyone, I'm sure a lot of people around here know me, and if you dont, here I am.
I currently drive a 2007 SE, and have been doing so for almost a year now.
The thing that I have noticed, from talking to friends, being on this board, going to car shows, etc... is that we have an absolutely abysmally tiny aftermarket.
I know a lot of new people have been picking up GSes, and a lot of people have been talking about emailing companies about new intake manifolds etc(muscles)...
Lately I've been trying to sell my gs, mostly because of this whole lack of aftermarket parts, however in the meantime I've had a great idea, and that is to have one thread, where anyone interested in GS R&D can post up their name, and what kind of parts they are interested in.
From there I can form lists of people and what parts they want, and then discuss which companies should be emailed etc...
Yes I realize this is very much like the group buys section on this website, however it is not a group buy, its more like who is interested in trying to get new parts made for our car.

So it would look something like this
Intake Manifold- Contact Example Company (example@example.com)
1. Stangcobra
2. Someone else
3. Someone else
and so on, basically it takes the format of group buys but...isnt a group buy.
Anyway post up ideas for parts with the format above, I will then copy them to the main post and add names as people post that they are interested.
If you are interested in a part just post your username and what part you are interested in.


I hope this thread can get somewhere, because I know there are enough people out there to get some of the bigger companies to start making parts.

This is not to be used for intakes, headers, exhausts, pullies, throttlebodies, anything that already exists for our cars, if you want those go to the group buy threads, this is for new parts that dont exist yet.

great idea for a thread although i disagree with the fact of not posting for new header, tb options. if you look at other platforms they have 5 to 6 different companies making the same parts, increasing part availability, creating price competition.

right now we have 4-6 month waiting list on one company for headers, yeah fuck that. when i have 500 bucks ready now, i want headers within a week.

Eh, its more to try to promote development of new parts we dont have.
That being said if youre interested in headers, and have a company you can think of go ahead and post up

3. Carbon fiber exhaust surrounds (I can't recall proper terminology right now)

It's a great idea... but in the end its all talk and when it comes down to putting down the money for R&D + Product its a no go.

I mean not necessarily, if we can get a number of people contacting these companies and showing interest, perhaps with cash deposits to ensure they actually buy the parts, we could easily increase the AM on these cars.
Plus...its better than just not trying

Nope, nope and nope. No one makes any of those for the 2011 models. Only the 2006-2008. If I am wrong, please show me where because I am the Google God and have not found one company.

I'm not trying to knock anything, but you will need people that back up the commitments they make. Sadly, this very basic act seems to be lacking with a major fraction of the community. People do not understand that if your name is on one of these list, you are making a commitment to buying said product. A lot of members are all talk when it comes to R&D. I hate to say it but I speak from experience and watching other list similar to this dissolve due to lack of follow through.

Anyway, that said, I would only be down to be on a list if it was for a legit harness bar. That is a product I have been wanting for some time, second to the rear seat delete that Rico is now producing. (THANKS RICO). You get someone interested in developing a harness bar for us, I will not only give a deposit (if refundable) but I will assist with R&D.

Oh no I get it, the point here is less for all the new members to say hurrrr I want a new intake, but for more established members to try to post up and actually get something going on.
I'm not really trying to search for companies or anything, all I'm trying to do is organize this list, thats why I wanted everyone to use the same format, so it would be easy to open this and find out if there was anything new that someone was interested in getting R&D done on

I have not, nor have the time, to contact companies for R&D so I omitted that. However, I see no reason why this product would not be GS/GT compatible, so it could result in a much larger market and possible cover the new models as well. I'll also add, not only does this product offer function to those in auto cross etc, but I can see the "show" guys wanting this as well. All in all, I see absolutely no reason that a reputable company has yet to develop this product... except lack of demand. (Though I admit some ignorance here, and there could be things I have not considered).

if the skunk manifold goes thru, or some kind that actually doesn't cause headaches. maybe an actual turbo kit could go into production. since im just starting everything with my car it wouldn't be realistic to commit right now ( yeah i know, another idea with no commitment to back it ). but i figured since there are so many custom builds going on and it seems that going turbo is pretty popular here, i figured id mention it and maybe it'd take off.

i was looking into companies:
TSI - had one for the 1st three generations, more of a professional install
Treadstone- had a 2nd generation bolt on
dont know how active these two companies are but it seemed HKS, GReddy, Hahn Racecraft might be able to be reached out to.

Yea stang I'm in for just about anything man, engine parts like engine and radiator shrouds, battery cover, some engine caps like the old tearstone ones, carbon fiber mirrors, gauge pod for the dash, the ideas are endless
