How to -> GS oil catch can
Hello everyone,
Here is a little "how to" to install a oil catch can on a GS. This installation is very very...very...very....ve....ry...simple. When you buy your catch can, it comes with all the hardware, BUT the hose included is very short and ugly as hell so you probably want to get a new one. So i ordered 10 ft of 1/4 vacuum hose from ebay for this installation(1/4"(6mm) is a bit small so you better get a 5/16"(8mm) one(you will need something like 5 ft). Now all you have do to is assemble the can wich means...take the collar and tighten it on your bracket. The easiest place i found to mount the can is on the hole that is originally made for the OEM filter box. There is only 1 hole but 1 screw is enough to hold your can in place(drill a 2nd hole if you wish to). Run the 1rst piece of hose from your valve cover to you catch can, and then run the 2nd piece of hose from your catch can to your intake. Before plugging the hoses you should put the collar on it wich is a bit logic and tighten the 4 collars in place. Now you are done...what??? you tough it would be harder????Some pictures now You think that a oil catch can is useless on your "not so moded" car???? ![]() ![]() My GS only have 50 000km...so what your own intake manifold looks like??? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Some links you might need for your own catch can The can i bought the hose i bought (remeber that 5/16" or 8mm is the best but 1/4 can do it) Last edited by zedawg; August 30th, 2011 at 06:46 PM. |

did u notice the first pic of his manifold with all of the oil residue inside. it also builds up on ur throttle body. the silicone line that connects to ur intake is a breather for the engine and it often spits out oil residue. the catch can prevents it from building up in ur intake and manifold. hence the name "oil catch can"

here is my install . . i have a breather filter on the nipple at the bottom of the can that way the oil vapor is not going into the can and being re-sucked back into the intake and the filter also prevents the vapors from building in ur bay.

?? where then. . . i have seen a good amount of build-up on the front face of the throttle going into the manifold. . . that means the vapors enter through the intake ?? i just tossed it on today lol. let me guess it should b connected to the line thats above the ignition coils ?

so do i now leave the line connected to the valve cover and run it to the can . . . then connect a seperate line from the manifold to the can and leave my breather ??

honestly dude,i had an inline see through filter on the line you have hooked up to the can right now.had it on for a good 6 months and i never seen no oil on the filter.i even took the see through filter off and ran a hose to a small breather filter close to the firewall.it stayed cool the whole time.i would put the oem hose,(or a better one) back on the intake tube and put the catch can on the other side connected to the pcv hose(if you can figure out how to mount it) to keep the vacuum line as short as possible

I'm just seeing a "." in place of where your pics are suppose to be. I'm just needing to see where to run lines to and from for the catch can.

Exactly. But the vacuum hose included with the cans is short and very ugly so you better order some. This is where i bought mine from http://stores.ebay.ca/ZENARacing/Sil...=p4634.c0.m322 .

well looks like I ordered the same oil catch can as zedawg but I am worried that a few of you say the way his is hooked up isn't correct. Also found a Youtube video which shows a different hook up
Oil Catch Can Install on 4g Eclipse GT. - YouTube Anyone have more detailed pictures or information for a gal who isn't mechanically enclined and wants to try to do this herself? hmmm
