free simple mod that works

for the people who are running a sri and still have the factory hood and at least a tb bypass. in 95 plus degree heat,i have found something that works just like a cowl hood and will keep your engine bay cooler.

it will allso make your ac colder and when the car is sitting still, heat will escape.all you have to do is remove all the rubber from underneath the hood.

the cowl effect will come from removing the rear rubber seal under the hood closes to the windshield(the whole piece will have to be removed to get the full effect).this mod is totally reversable in the winter if you so choose.you can either laugh your ass off or try it for yourself and feel the difference.thanks and have a nice day !

That is better than the 240 guys who prop the hood up in the back for venting. It looks like crap. This is far more subtle.

ill pass on that,if you start raising it too much,it might start effecting how much air goes through the radiator

just to clarify,by removing the rear strip, air is being sucked into the engine bay from the rear of the hood from 30 mph and up.the faster you go,the more air is being sucked in. hence the cooler engine bay.it is a low pressure area.thats why it acts as a cowl hood which has the same effect.doing this will allso have benefits of having ambient air coming through your vents with the ac off as if the air was felt when riding a motorcycle

lmao,no i dont have dyno sheets but i can tell you how to test it for yourself.remove strip, get some nylon string and tie it to one of the t-clips that holds the rubber strip on,bout 12" worth.place it up on windshield.go for a drive.each and every time the string gets sucked back into the engine bay ....and thanks

i was in a sharing mood today lol.i'll even go a step further.if you are running a injen sri,go to home depot and get some cell foam pipe wrap.doesnt need to go all the way around the radiator hose.just enough to block the heat coming off of it from getting sucked into the air filter when its 90+ outside.3 zip ties will hold it on and it wont melt.works great as well.

What about removing the rubber insulator at the front of the hood (its an inch in diameter and about 3ft long held on by clips) will that give more air to the SRI?

yes,all the rubber ! actually, what your talking about is permanently removed from my hood.clips and all.the rear clips i left on for when i want to put it back on when temps get down to freezing so my tb wont have any problems from freezing air being blown over it.if you think about it.aftermarket hoods do not come with any rubber like the oem hood.

the weatherstrips r not actually on the hood. they are on the car. thats how mine are atleast. only the front one is on the hood. the hood closes onto the other weatherstrips. so y would an aftermarket hood come with weatherstrips in the first place . . .

idk man, maybe you could break it down for me ? lmao.the ones i was referring to towards the front of the hood that are on the hood are weather strips too fyi.anyone with common sense can pop the hood and see for theirself lolz...and i never said the rear weather strip was connected to the hood.i just figured people would have enough common sense to see where its at but maybe i was wrong
