Can someone tell me what that thing is? And can i take it off? Ive never seen that on any other car and it was left there after i took my OEM intake off... Its just held on by a couple bolts and im assuming if i had a CAI it would have to go.

tough to tell from the pic but if it is a funnel-like flat thingy, then yes, it can go

It is the silencer for the air box yes take it off it is doing nothing at all for you know. You could have taken it of of the air box for a little meaner sound.

I am guessing what that dark spot which we can not see is your resonator. If that's the case, then yes, you would remove that if you were putting in the CAI.

yeah sorry about the picture its beat. thats the thing though. what exactly is it? i think, but dont quote me, its something that you can just plug up or remove. apparently it makes the car louder if you do? fml

It will not make the car louder it would have it you took it off the air box it is just a piece of plastic now. It is a silencer or resonator.

That's not a silencer. I'm afraid what you have there is a black hole, or as we like to call it in the car community, a "singularity". Left alone it could be responsible for low gas mileage, hondas taking you off the line, and that general feeling of ickiness you get when you forget to shower first thing in the morning. I'm pretty sure Stephen Hawking is the only man capable of removing one of those... but I'd be willing to give it a try.

Its been forever since I took that off, and IIRC, its a funnel for cold air to travel into your intake. Which I would say is beneficial to getting cold air to your SRI.
