I also use Mobil 1 synthetic oil (5w20 but I have the GT) along with the K&N filter.

some guy was telling me its bad to kind of go past wat oil says to use cause it says we need to use 5w20 does it matter or hurt the engine by using 5w30 or 10w30

I will say that Pennzoil is the only full syn I've ever used(in 2 diff turbo cars), but just cause it was the cheapest.

I've read into oil makeups, the oil molecules last, it's the additives & detergents that fail over time. If oil is "recycled" in the fullest extent it's no different than refining crude to the same state. I'm NOT a brand fan as long as it meets the SAE specs.

Mitsubishi is from Japan. Why not use a Japanese oil??

To the best of my knowledge, 5w-20 is better oil than 5w-30. The reason is the lower viscosity range of 15 versus 25. To get the higher range in viscosity requires more additives, effectively reducing the overall quality of the oil.

and there's no reason to run it. guys think they are buying "better protection" by using thicker oil, but the thinner oil does the job just as well, and its more efficient giving better fuel economy.

If you look in the manual it says that you can use different viscosity oils depending on the climate. I cant remember exactly what it was but 5w-20 - 10w-30 sounds right. I could be wrong about the viscosity.

the manual recommends 5W-20 for optimum fuel economy and cold starting, however, if the outside temperature where you will be driving is regulary above 100 degrees, then they recommend the 10w-30.

the average summer temp. where i live is around 95 degrees, so i run the 20 weight
