how far can you go once the light goes on for fuel? i was driving from NY to DE and my light went on, and i couldnt find an exit, i was drivin like that for like....15 miles i would say and it started to cough...so it MUST have been on fumes. i pulled in and refueled but i wanna know EXACTLY how far u can go with the light on? be advised, it wasnt EXACTLY 15 miles, it might have not even been close or much jmore...lol i was less worried on the miles and more worried about getting to a gas station.

The most that has been pulled off is 16m.

i have gone 50 miles after the light came on lol.im pretty sure its 2-3 gallons left when the light comes on.

with the car off and all gauges are at zero.look where the gas gauge is,im positive that would be dead empty.ive allmost been there a couple of times just to see about how far i can go without running out.

The most I have herd on here was 16 know 50. I figured it was more but I try and gas up if I get that low. Nice to know though.

I saw a thread similar to this a while back and I, being the type to fill up only when I need to, started making mental notes to see how much gas I have left and how far I can go when the light comes on.

Turns out the light comes on around when you've USED 14.5-15 gallons. I think we hold about 17.5 gallons so you'll have about 2.5 to 3 gallons in the tank when the light comes on. As for how many miles you can go, everyone's modded differently (not to mention lead foots!) and such so multiply that by your typical mpg and you'll get how many miles you can go when the light comes on.

NOTE: I guess I won't need to tell you this is when the light comes up on level ground as if you're on a hill, the light can come up and go away.

Wrong. The needle goes much further past the run out line. I have ran out, and its like halfway between off needle position, and past the last line of Gas mark.

our tanks are 16 gallons. When light goes off, I can put 14 gallons in her. So... should be about 2 gallons left, which means we can go about 30 miles easy, or risking a lot i guess we can go 40 miles after light goes off.

ive gone 46 miles after the light turned on, on the highway at like 85 as soon as it turned on i counted but idk how much further i woulda got but u can go at least 46 xD

I heard that if you drive on very low gas it can damage the engine , is that true or just a fib?

Fib. Now if you keep running out of gas, then its bad for the fuel pump. But 1-5 times wont do anything.

Pump only lets me put in 16.1 gallons at most. This is for a GS btw, dunno if they're different.
