This will be a new piece I have been working with Cometic to design. I imagine it will be part of their regular inventory. Shout out to Lanzer for supplying the OEM headgasket. Negative points to Mrs. Lanzer for being late in shipping it out hahaha
![]() Does the Eclipse head differ from the RA head in anyway? |

Group Buy time!!
Gents,
I received confirmation today from Cometic that the gaskets are ready for manufacturing. Shipping will be quoted for each buyer, whether it's U.S. or international. I will have to reach out to each buyer individually to provide shipping quotes. PITA but that's the way it is. The gasket will be MLS...no copper. The gasket thickness is reduced from .031 to .027. That will bump compression from 9.5:1 to approx. 9.85:1. I attempted to get a thinner gasket to bump the CR to 10:1 but a few factors prevented that. At the new CR I would highly recommend 89 Octane at min. For people with reflashes stick with 93 and you will be fine. Estimated HP gain will be roughly 7-10HP, but you can most certainly expect increased mpg. If you're interested in a group buy please respond to this thread. Guys who are directed here from EvoM please PM me on EvoM if you're interested. ![]() Note For people who are not familiar, replacing the headgasket is not simple labor and I would only recommend it if you're doing it yourself (to save costs) or are planning head work in the future. Mods if I need to start the Group Buy in a different section on the site please let me know. I will continuously update this post. Once I have 10 committals I will reach out to each person. 1.Akley88 2.Roman Lujan 3.Muscles 4.Evangeliise 5.Chris05 6.Ballfade 7.Lanzer Last edited by Ralliartize It; November 5th, 2011 at 07:36 AM. |

while it is a lengthy install I think everyone should pick one of these up to have for an immediate install or for whenever you have to do some head work....and for those reasons
Ralliartize It , put me on the list ....are you getting one roy or are you more interested in the evo now (fucking traitor) lol j/k

Cometic are just MLS gaskets...same thing from the factory, side by side you can't tell the difference...this isn't a mod that normal guys need. If you do head work or blow a head gasket then it's an option to get but only if it's cheaper then stock. I think the only difference is a VERY thin layer rubber is put on them...you can buy that and spray the stock ones...Higher compression means thinner and the heads closer to the pistons and hitting a valve. Changing compression .35:1 isn't going to do a damn thing. Theres a certain clarence need and most cars come right were they need to be from factory. Pistons and valves come within thousandths of an inch to each other. Closing that VERY small gap isn't the best idea. A triple layer gasket may seal slightly betters then the stick double but in the 5 years here I haven't seen a single GS or GT head gasket problem thread...why change what's already proven to work...I'm not putting cometic down, I'm ordering one for my GT next week. Only reason is be use i need more clearance after my block and heads were resurfaced. If I didn't need that I already had my brand new stocks sitting here. My machinist told all this to me as well. Our gaskets are the same exact thing as cometic. This isn't a mod in any way that people need. It's a stock replacement made by a different supplier.
