LSD Limited Slip Diffriental GS

So i messaged RRE today and i need to find out how many splines or something our axle has the gs model this is the mail i got so lets see if anyone can answer my question

Hi AJ,

I just wanted to let you know that I spoke with Mike and he received the email, however the answer is kinda long so give him time to reply. If you can pop an axle out and tell us how many splines and the diameter of the splines that would go along way in helping us help you. You might be the first person to put one on a 2011 so we need to make sure for sure before anybody goes spending a thousand bucks.

well since your car is newer they may need to redesign an lsd specifically for that year from the sound of what they are saying. Last time i checked they already had a lsd applicable towards the gs at least the earlier models.

well its due to the fact a lot of members may find it not necessary to drop 900$ on it, then again at the same time lots of builds are going on especially FI that take up all the $ they would of had available for this mod.

There should be a manual that shows a detailed description on how to take your year tranny apart and there you can count the splines

CrAnSwIcK has a spectacular aura about
Does the 2011 eclipse GS still use a 4G69? I have a Quaife LSD, it's a QDH7BR...it's the RRM one, but i got it from another guy never used for a ridiculous price...I still have my stock diff, i can post up the part number for it, and the number of splines, if you can confirm your stock diff is the same as mine that might be a good indication. And yes, the LSD changes the way the car drives and handles all together...minimal understeer at high speed, traction and grip from a stand-still is awesome, and no torque steer...Forced induction without an LSD is kinda stupid in my opinion.

Differential part number MD746800...

the WaveTrac 76.309.180WK is supposed to fit 06+ eclipse GS, as well as the 04-06 Ralliart lancer...

I counted 27 spline

Both Quaife and Wavetrac are helical type, automatic torque biasing differentials, the wavetrac get's its name from a separate, wave-type gearing system that preloads the diff in zero load conditions...

Wavetrac® Differential - A torque biasing differential with a difference and click on "how it's different" if you want to know...

I was going to get a wavetrac, but an opportunity arose to get the quaife, and i was all over it...$400 shipped, so obviously i couldn't pass it up...I've been quite happy with it. You know when you try pulling 90 depgrees into fast moving traffic from a dead stop, and all you get is wheel spin? that doesn't happen anymore, infact i get very little wheel spin, and i can max out first gear in a full turn without breaking loose.

^you got a Quaife for $400?! you lucky bastard - it cost me $1300 and then $500 to put in....oh man you are SO FUCKING LUCKY.

Yeah, again, can't say it enough - new car at the next level w/ an LSD installed. It's like the engine is directly connected to the wheels instead of waiting for a bunch of gears and shafts to 'catch-up' or something. no spin, no torque-pull, POWER TO THE GROUND. Combined w/ my Stage IV clutch and shortshifter, roll-stops on the engine w/ the stiffy, it's just next level. Like a dragster w/ metal rods connecting everything as opposed to floppy cables is how it feels. I can hear the gears 'clack' into place as I shift, and when I launch off the line it's difficult to not go too fast.

It was $350 plus 50$ to ship it in from Edmonton, and i installed it myself, when i rebuilt my tranny...i did 3rd gear synchro, all the bearings, and oil seals.

^incredible! +erep. not only am I jealous of the price you got on the part, I am green w/ envy at your mechanical skill. I MIGHT know enough to stumble my way through it, but I seriously doubt I could actually do it, even IF I had the lift and all the parts/tools I'd need to complete the job properly. you don't have any pictures of the install process do you? I'm sure we'd all love to see them....

haha yeah it's well worth it and you won't believe the feel once that bitch is up in there. just make sure you do the clutch also at the same time if you think you are EVER going to replace the clutch - as I did them separately and cost myself an extra $550.

here is my LSD thread if you've never seen it:

I'm sure we'd all love to see them....
CrAnSwIcK's 4G69 Build (rebuild) - evolutionm.net

It's not like super in depth, on "how-to", but more along the lines of "how it's coming along" lol...I could have taken more pictures and done a "it's not as scary as it looks" on the tranny rebuild, but by the time i cracked here open, i had parts in hand, and i could have the tranny in and engine back together in a matter of a day, so i was in a hurry to get her running again. I was travelling more than 100 miles for work every week, and only home on weekends, so time was an issue, and it's my daily...still took 2 months.

basically i roasted my timing belt, and decided what better time than now to do some work...

here's my my custom turbo conversion project (slow going)
http://forums.evolutionm.net/04-06-r...phase-2-a.html

and i posted this here already, but i made my own turbo manifold.
