Header info/Carb Laws
Hello, I am new here, in fact I am new to modifying any car, i pretty much just have basic knowledge due to hanging out with a bunch of friends who time attack and participate in d1gp events, but they are all into rwd and would never touch an eclipse. Rather then bug them about this id rather learn this stuff on my own so im sort attempting to learn all this stuff on my own and so far I have already added a fujita intake system and exhaust upgrade so now im looking into headers. However, after research on header technology in general it looks like most header upgrades take away your catalytic converter? I live in southern california so my question is this, is there any website or place selling header upgrades for the gs that will not make my car totally street illegal in cali? If this has already been asked on another forum update just give me a link to it and ill read the response there no problem but all the header info ive seen on this site so far seems to assume you already have some basic knowledge of what headers do and how they are installed and this is information i am just now researching within the last few days. Kevin.

all headers available to us (RRE, OBX) will remove your 2 main cats, because of the way Mitsu designed the exhaust manifolds.
i am 99% sure they're not street legal in Cali, but who cares since you're down there, your best bet is to call or even pay a visit to Road Race Engineering... they will tell you exactly what you can / should / shouldn't do with your Eclipse !they're like the gods of the Eclipse community, and they make 1 of the 2 headers available for the GT (new batch available RIGHT NOW). 13022 La Dana Court Santa Fe Springs, CA 90670-4538 (562) 777-1522 i'm not sure if the 3rd cat is enough to pass emission testing in Cali... |

Hahaha yeah ya know its like I would like my stuff to be legal if possible but..from what everyones telling me it isnt hard to basically swap back in the stock stuff if you get pulled over and get it signed off then put the headers back on since its a bolt on so if its that easy then im game enough to try it lol.

yeah no 4g headers are carb legal, because of removing the cats and getting carb approval is a pain in the ass and expensive. the header is easy to switch out though.
