Springs. Please Help!
I just bought some Tein type S springs for my 2007 SE Eclipse. I want to put them on but I am afraid of there being too much pressure on my shocks that they will give out. Are springs safe to put on our cars? Or are our cars too heavy and our shocks/ axle too weak for the added weight when dropping the car with just springs? Please help! Thanks

You wouldnt be freaking out if you did some research. the springs will be fine just got over bumps slowly. but thats common sense. and any aftermarket spring will put more tension on the shocks but nothing drastic.

Thanks. And I have done research. I just get mixed opinions. I'm going to go ahead and put them on.

Of course you are... youve already spent the money. U run a risk with any mod u make to ur car. Why do u think its frowned down upon by the dealer? U just have to ask urself does the small chance of u being affected by a negative experience with one of your mods outway the look ond ride of an all stock GS. From the moment the cars come off the assembly line all they want to do is kill u anyways.. So i said all that to say... there are risks with everything, but who gives a fuck?! worry about that in your next life. Happy modding!

Put them on, have fun. I heard it causes premature wear or the shocks but who cares, you only lose a few hundred miles. Replacements are that pricey but I hear they are a tad better than OEM.

If you're going to freak out over such a basic modification, car modding is not for you.

This is actually a good basic thread with such a simple question. I was going to get the springs too but wasnt sure about it as well. If it does put a ton of wear and you need to buy new ones from the dealer or something it would probably be the same price as buying aftermarket coilovers am i correct? So buy stock Mitsu Parts for the same price or pay Auto City for th coilovers LOL decisions decisions

Im from dc. So I'm not an inbred. I ask one fuckin question and y'all feel the need to talk shit. If you don't have advice worry about your own shit. Otherwise thank you all that responded with useful information. Also. I'm only 19. Fuckin up my car. Fucks up my money. Which fucks up my life. So yes. I am concerned about little mods that can have a big impact on the car. Oh and btw. I got the name big red cuz I was the only white kid in my hs and I have red/blonde hair. just to clear that up

Which is why I'm saying car modding might not be right for you. Every mod will have a somewhat negative impact on the factory design from turbos to a CAI. Its not an insult, its just a fact. Its 70 degrees outside and car modding might not be right for you.

He can get away with coilovers without risk of screwing up too muh other stuff, springs as well but like I said, shortens strut life. Theyd be constantly stressed more then they were designed for. After that, any other mod for this car will potentially mess up lots of stuff. Except a few other suspension parts. Even aftermarket headunits

70 flat is just what Windows 7 is telling me. Feels more like comfortable high 70s. Cali has alot of stupid people and alot of stupid laws, but at least the weather is nice.

I think the struts will take additional wear than the shocks but that is to be expected with springs. The lower they are, the more wear on struts but struts will wear out even with stock springs.

Yeah. I just need something to hold me over until I get coilovers. And the springs are just sitting in a box in my room. So Everytime I walk in my room it's like they are screaming at me telling me to put them on lol
