Hey guys as you know i have the 06 eclipse turbo and i was thing next summer to upgrade to some more power. Sooo i want to get Forged Pistons and Rods for my car. 2.4L. Where would i be able to buy them from???

Way2_much4u will become famous soon enough
i know RRE sells forged pistons...

Road Race Engineering's 4G Eclipse Parts and Performance

RRE Eclipse GS MIVEC Forged Aluminum Pistons
These pistons are the perfect replacement for 2.4 MIVEC guys going turbo and running silly boost . For guys pushing the limits you need a better piston. Features include forge aluminum construction, thicker ring lands and true seal pistons rings. At this time they are made one set at a time with love so the price reflects this, sorry.

699 a set

RRE sells them way overpriced. You can get wiseco for under 500 from most other suppliers. Just do a google search for 4G69 wiseco pistons. No one makes rods yet, but there are some rumors about using SRT-4 rods. Haven't found any proof that would work yet though.

thanks for the info, i cant believe there are no rods made for this car, that really upsetting. Pretty sad to see that there is nothing for this car.

i found the following information.

I had some free time today and decided to do some research. I've come up with the following:

-4G69 uses 4G63 rod and crank bearings
-4G69 uses 4G64, 4G94 valve guides and seals
-4G69 uses the EVO timing belt tensioner which is aluminum, not cast iron
-4G69 intake valve = 34mm (4G63 EVO = 34mm) May fit?
-4G69 exhaust valve = 30.55mm (4G63 EVO = 30.5mm) May fit?
-4G69 uses 4G64, 4G94 valve spring retainers
-4G69 uses 4G63, 4G64 head bolts (can use 4G63 ARP head studs {thumbup})
-4G69 uses 4G63, 4G64 main bolts (can use 4G63 ARP main studs {thumbup})
-4G69 uses 4G63 EVO balance shafts (can use 4G63 EVO BS eliminator kit {thumbup})

Here's a good read on how Mitsubishi took a 4G64, modified it and called it a 4G69: Article

(An Overview Of The2005 Mitsubishi Galant).

Lightened rods, lightened crank, lightened crank pulley, larger valves, shorter block height and other goodies. They did a very nice job and came out with a very nice engine.

I emailed RRE today asking them about rods for the 2.4L... hopefully they will get back to me tomorrow... I was curious because I am gonna be running 8psi but I want to up that and I was wondering if just the camshaft and pistons would be fine to up the PSI or if I would need rods/where would I be able to get new rods... Ill keep you posted on what I find out! I want to get the Stage 2 port and polished head for our car but thats gonna have to happen next summer...

i asked my shop about the performance camshaft for our car and he said i would not recommened is cause that car runs better and makes more power under the stock ones, and he said that have been the case for alot of the guys buying cams and later putting back there old ones.

You're better off letting a shop put them in. Getting the timing perfect is crucial and if you don't know how to do it you can mess things up. Price is gonna depend on your local shop.

Im not sure you could check DSMSource or Club3G I know some guys there have done 4G63 and 4G64 Head swaps. Which should technically work for us too I just don't think anyone has done it yet. But I remember reading one on there that talked about the diff between the 6 bolt and 7 bolt.

haha ya itd be really nice to know which one is the one to go with the 7 or 6 bolt.. i believe its the 7 after looking at specifics and I need to find out at some point because I ordered the pistons so now I need the rods then I won't be pissing myself everytime I decide to floor it and watch the boost levels reach 10-11psi... I was thinking of the Manley H beams or the Eagles either one is strong and good for the money

#4 rod snaped liked a twig under 10 lbs of boost. I recommend swapping and getting forged rods if your going with 10 or more lbs.

Hey Mecks just a suggestion but you might wanna try dropping to 5-8 lbs until the parts come and you get them in. I just would hate to see anything happen before you complete the process. Good Luck

It happened on the dyno. 4500 rpm it was making 210 hp and 240 lb feet of torque. that was on a mustang dyno. So ya I would turn down the boost or you might just end like me with your baby in you backyard with a car cover over it.

Really ? This doesn't make much sense we have people with 8lbs putting 260 WHP and running fine. So what was done so different on yours that 210 blew a rod?

The shop ran secondary injectors on the intake side. The first pull the head lifted. Had the head milled and ARP head studs and new gaskets installed. Working on the transition for the when the secondaries kicked in and I think that it didnt get enough fuel and leaned out and detinated. I dont know for sure because I was not there. right after that I had to go out to sea so I havent had time to pull it apart and see if I can use anything. So at the least I need rods, pistons and a bottom end. So if I can get everything I need for less than 2,000 I will be a happy man. But we all know I never works out the way the you plan.

hey let me introduce myself. my name is joe and im a regular on the evolutionm.net forums. I have been building up my 2.4 liter turbo'd ralliart for about 4 years now. blew more motors than most people even went to the track with there 4g69 lol.

I'm basically here to help spread my knowledge, and pick up more knowledge from you eclipse people. we have the same motor so we can share alot of infomation with eachother.

please ignore the N20 name of the thread. AT first i was gonna spray it, but i decided to just run 26+psi on the turbo's. I'm in the middle of building everything up, but that thread has alot of useful information...

let me summerize it for you.

Rods in this car are already reinforced stock. the piston is actually the weak link. The guy on here said when he blew his motor, the rod bent liek a pretzel. at least it was still in one piece. i bet your piston is just a bunch of metal shavings. the first 3 times i blew the motor up, it was the piston, each and every time. Piston is the weak link in this motor, but if your gonna upgrade one thing, you mind as well do it all... also, the limit on this motor is about 13-14 psi. i was running 8psi at first, than i put it up to 10 psi. than i put it up to 12 psi. the motor blew up after i hit some boost spike and it dipped into 14psi before it blew up. so i'd say 13-14 psi is the limit. (maybe it was a fuel problem since it was boost spike, but needlesstosay, the car can take 12psi all day everyday)

now for parts that fit our car....

that 4g63 crossover reference guide is our bible. use it. ALOT OF EVO PARTS FIT OUR CAR.. What i did for my car (so far) was order Eagle H-beams rods from an evo, ARP head and main studs from an evo, and i ordered RRM pistons. I could have used wiseco pistsons but i decided not to, they make a "clattering" noise on my freinds honda, and my other friends evo. So i went with RRM. they are pricey, but they use a company that has a very good rep.

IM gettin a crankshaft custom made. he's a guy on the evom.net forums and his name is SSP_RACING. he has his own speedshop and currently has the fastest all motor 4g69 in the country (i think) he is custom making me a crankshaft that will handle 550whp for about 700 dollars. message him if you want one.

thats all the progress i made so far, but the plan is 550 whp, be the fastest front wheel drive lancer in the planet. This is my first post on this website, so im gona start searching and getting more infomation from you guys. and of course, help spread my knowledge.

LOL WTF just now i tried to post up a link of my car and my motor build, but appearently im a noob and i cant post links up yet until i get more posts lol.. anybody wanna check it out PM me and i'll send you info.

also, incase you are wondering, i took the car to the dyno2 times. first time, it was 7psi stock and we tuned it to 10psi. the 10psi didnt take to well and final results was 240whp with alot of coughing. BAD TUNE. that was on a dyno jet.

2nd time on a dyno i went to a mustang dyno and tuned it to 12 psi. we ran it SLIGHTLY rich for a safe tune. The car ran perfectly at 12psi. the results was 224whp. on an allwheel drive mustang dyno. They guy who ran the stop said an evo with intake, exhaust, reflash, intercooler and intercooler pipes ran 190whp. so if a hoooked up evo ran 190 whp and my car ran 224 whp, i was happy with the results. (mustang dyno's give low numbers)
