From inspecting the ones that don and I swapped they are different heads completely. I'm not sure if they would work. My understanding is the ecu controls them differently as well. However I'm not the most technically gifted when it comes to this.

Nope built into the head. Pdiddy tried and has been having a he'll of a time. The ecu doesn't know what to do. Switch ecu didn't work either. No solution besides stocking to the same year.

I hate that was what happened but not surprised....we have a fickle little girl we are trying to deal with

I hear the part about P&P not helping with NA but I hope to take it to the next level with a SC one day so I am still going for it...just not sure about the bigger valves but springs and retainers for sure

Yep....Randy and I traded heads. I originally picked up a pair of '07 heads off Ebay but I needed '08 heads which Silverside had. Randy picked them up and we traded.

.....or if I get off my butt and get my head work done and installed you could buy my extra set but I can't afford to do that right now.

Check the wiring diagrams for the 06/07 & 08+ heads to see how it works. Seems like you have to fool the ECU that the second solenoid is installed and function properly to avoid a CEL.

Oversize valves will decrease the air velocity on the a N/A setup. Three angle valve job, gasket match ports, and bowl clean up will do. No need to enlarge the intake ports: It's big as it is plus you will lost air velocity if you increase unless boosted.

The trick isn't to get the most airflow possible through pushing this down the ports alone. Like Majin said, it's also a factor of how much port velocity you have. The fact is that the stock ports will support enough HP than your transmission can handle anyway, so even if you tried to try to overdo your valve sizes to allow more airflow, you may lose power potential by having less air getting in the cylinders during the intake cycle.

Now, even with a boosted setup I don't know that this will make it all better. Remember that you only have so much airflow coming in through the butterfly. And we've got drive-by-wire somewhat aiding to the complexity of fine-tuning the airflow problem, too. The fact that air has mass (weight), and all the dynamics that go into the design of the intake manifold... between boost and blowing-off to let off boost...

Yeah. It's not as simple as saying "bigger is better". That's why good headwork and manifold design are of utmost importance.

So the issue isn't so much that we don't already have good enough displacement with the stock engine. It's aptly addressed by better head flow to match your race block.

You obviously can make higher numbers... increasing VE to over 100%... obviously. Besides, about larger valves... say, +2 over... is obviously not intended to be for building an N/A race engine. That would just be stupid, and I'd just lose power that way.
Best said!

John426 is on a distinguished road
I'm guessing tuning is going to be necessary for this setup, right?
