Outside dimmer undercar lights

Ok I searched and im surprised no one's done this.
What I want to do is have under car lights that light up and dim the exact same way the dome light does when you unlock the car with the remote. My question is how can I achieve that? I'm not familiar with electrical but I'm handy so any advice would be appreciated.

I would not try and use the same dimmer circuit. Even with LEDs it still might be too much of a current drain/load. Expect you will have to get another dimmer module and trigger it off the door switch just like the dome but using a completely different ckt. Good luck with this....hope it is worth the effort.

So am I just wiring up a relay to the dome light and then connecting everything from there? Is that something I wire directly from the fuse box inside the car?

Fairly straight forward then? Do I need that particular relay or if not what relay will do?
