Yeah I'm really stoked to. What mods did you get to yours? I got the color matching the insides and all accessories to kapalana black, halos, 2 hyper white LEDs, the third LED diffuser bar, and having that white patch triangle looking thing either removed or color matched, no colored LED's or anything like that tho. The color matching and stuff brought it up to around the number that AC paid for hers, I wonder if she didnt get hers color matched? That wold explain the price being close to the same for different options.

I will have:
New projector headlights in OEM black
LED swap white
LED diffuser white
Dual hyper white halos
Color shifting demon eyes (linked to OP)
Color shifting OP mods (linked to demon)
R8 mod in hyper white
LED wireless remote control
for a total of $890.00
This is a quoted price before the price list went up.
+ $100.00 shipped to Canada
All this when the Canadian buck sucks!

I got to head of to where my car is stored for the winter & take my front bumper off. I'm having a buddy repair rock chips so the car is ready for April when the "Powerama" car show hits town.
Going for the third 1st Place & 2nd "Best of Show" trophy's in the "Sport Compact Extreme" class
With the Lights, CF Race Seats, Audio & other Mods I'm doing over winter I should have a chance.

I'm waiting for Luxeon to finally release their 15 and 20 watt 12v LCD modules. Those things will be bright enough to use in place of H3 and H4 headlight bulbs in projector housings.

eBay it, man!

Soon enough McMaster-Carr will start carrying these too (if they don't already have em, that is...)

Search results for ccfl ring in Car & Truck Parts & Accessories

Now all we need is bezels. I hate the idea of having to buy whole foglights just for the damn bezels.

Cold Cathode Flourescent Light. The same thing that most flat screen TV and computer/laptop LCD panels use.

Lots of mercury (toxic!) in these things. And they don't have real good cold temperature performance. These and other reasons are why LEDs are coming on strong.

Yep What he said. Also, EL wire is likewise more reliable, and last longer (though the supplier's quality control standards also play a huge part), but not as pretty if exposed on the raw. I'd use that if you had halo rings to hide em behind. You can also wire them in EXTREME lengths as one large continuous circuit... with segments of regular wire and EL wire to alternate between areas you want to light and not. (if that makes sense).

I think EL wire is a good option for those who want a really cheap alternative to interior and exterior accent lighting. Not as bright as LEDs, but VERY versatile.

Alright so looking at the large amount of different halo's available through ebay, what would my best bet be to find the brighter ones? I know through experience that half of what is on ebay is junk, its just a matter of finding the good stuff in the mix. Anybody have experiences to share with halo's?

Mmm... wouldn't know, really. Sorry Bill Thing is, most of the stuff up there are apparently catered toward specific applications - like Mazdas and Infinitys and BMWs. I'd check those message boards for feedback over eBay halos, I guess. That's the best I can think of.

But for what it's worth, like I said, my solution doesn't involve CCFLs at all. Mine involve 5mm thick EL wire, hidden behind plastic halo rings. I've personally not had much long-term success with CCFLs on automotive applications, just because they tend to be fragile (think back to when neons were the craze, before they were covered in Lexan, and they often broke. Well with CCFLs the cathode tubes are thinner and end caps tend to get disconnected/broken easier than neons. Else they're very easy to work with, and last forever on static applications like PCs and for home interior lighting.

Best part about EL wire, too, is that you only need to have one inverter, for however long a length of resistor (EL) wire you need. And like with LEDs you can control lumens via voltage dial. No need to figure out resistance like you would LEDs That's one inverter for as long as you need... say, 20 feet! All exterior lights with one switch (park light? ).

Hope that gives you another option...
