Ticking noise around intake manifold

My '06 GT started this weird ticking noise right around the intake manifold area. I noticed the oil level was extremely low a couple days ago and I've always used Valvoline Synthetic or Mobil 1 Synthetic. It's at 146,000 miles right now. I used to drive it all the time but lately I use it about twice a week. Anyone know what it could be?

Was it 2 quarts, or 3 quarts low, this engine only only holds 4.5 quarts including the oil filter. Driving with 2.5 quarts of oil is one thing, driving with 1.5 quarts of oil is another!! Either way around... Do a complete oil change, driving that low on oil will consume the properties of the oil, so basically even if you did add oil, you are still driving with burnt-out oil in the engine. Burnt oil can/will damage you engine quickly!!

When the engine is running the crank splashes oil to lubricate the lower part of the engine, this includes the cylinder walls, without oil on the cylinder wall you can score the walls of the cylinders and piston rings. Bad Ju-Ju!! You never got an oil light?? On your dip stick you have two lines, top line indicates you engine oil is full, the second lower line indicates you are one quart low, if no oil is on your dip stick you are 1 1/2 quarts of oil low, or more. Your engine oil light should come on before you are lower than 1 1/2 quarts low.

Are you burning oil from your exhaust, or do you have an oil leak? Check your spark plug holes for oil, or do you have other visible oil leaks on the engine or the ground?

So yeah I think it was running it with burning oil. I notice it's not burning it anymore but yeah I will do an oil change hopefully tomorrow. I check for leaks but I didn't find any. I also noticed that when I'm easy on the throttle the car seems to be running like a brand new car. But the moment I go above 4500 rpms the car has trouble breathing in air. Hopefully it all goes away with the oil change. I'll keep you guys posted. Thanks so much for your help

I don't know if you did your oil change yet... Marval Mystery Oil works wonders for stuck valves and rings, just add it before your oil change, it will also clean out any sludge build-up. You can also add it to your fuel tank to clean the fuel system, lubricate your fuel pump, clean fuel lines and injectors, will also lubricate your top end, clean valves, and piston heads. You can buy it at any auto parts store.

A little bit of sea foam in the oil before an oil change helps too
