Hrm...I would have got this if they'd have had it a few months ago when I did my clutch...
Great find man. This has to be NEW. The big question I have is if this is a dual mass flywheel or a single mass flywheel. If it is a single mass, then SPEC needs to make sure they give you a sprung hub instead of like the current hub on our cars it's unsprung because the DMF is absorbing the vibration and torque. That's been a big pondering question on my mind anyways.... What issues could arise by putting a SMF with a sprung hub instead of the stock design of DMF with unsprung hub....

I am sure I saw a post that said they did not see a stamp on it, they did put it on a bathtub scale to weigh it and it was 25lbs so I don't see why he would weight it if it had the weight stamp, but idk just what I read like 5 min ago

It's a dual mass so it does a funny kind of balancing and vibration dampening dance on its own. 3D animation of dual mass flywheel - YouTube Here is a 3D animation of kinda how it works. |

Thanks man! Yeah I know it works, Again, I just Medes to find out for my
Machinist so ha can figure if it needs to be balanced in or not. from what you guys are saying there is no stamps to it is part of the balancing. If it was stamped it means no one cared what the weight was until it small block was already assbled from factory. They flywheel and crank pulley was not balanced in. |

Just put mine on a few weeks ago. I'm still breaking it in so I can't really say to much about it yet. I did put the stage 3+ clutch in also and the pedal feels very comparable to stock. The only thing that I noticed and it is mentioned in threads on this site is that you will here a little rattle while at idle with the clutch disengaged, but other than that feels pretty good so far.

Btw, The Rep at Spec confirmed for me yesterday (again) that this is the same as the Fidanza LWFW. This is the email form him
Jeremy Auvil Jeremy@specclutch.com 12:40 PM (22 hours ago) to me It is not unusual to hear some sound during engagement. In fact this can happen with any stage clutch (even stock). Over the last decade we have moved flywheel production in house for most applications. In instances where we simply don’t have the demand, or haven’t had the time to add a part to our manufacturing list, we will still work with Fidanza. They do build the aluminum flywheel for the 3.8L. We don’t offer a flywheel for the 2.4L though (and I don’t believe that they do either). Let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks, J. Auvil SPEC, Inc. 800-828-4379 x.109 Jeremy@specclutch.com Also My Spec setup seems to be doing great so far! I have about 80 miles on it, so I will update when I have gotten further into the Break-in, or after the Break-in. |
