Chaos Exhaust project

As is now it consist of RRE shorties wrapped in thermal wrap, factory y pipe expanded to meet a 3in straight pipe that runs from basically the y pipe to the rear axel where it splits into two 2.5 inch pipes and runs out to the dual RRE magnaflows all welded no clamps or flanges. We added a high flow cat and that got the sound where i wanted it.

raspy you say? man I wonder if it isn't those shorties to the stock y-pipe not yeilding enough flow, if it's still raspy after your tweaks

mufflers definitely wear out...not sure how long they are suppose to last - seems like at least 50K if not more....I was thinking about this more - it just seems like with those shorties, any additional flow you get from them is held right up at the stock down pipe/y-pipe...but maybe I am wrong

When does the raspiness kick in? Lower to mid-range RPMs, at MIVEC, through all RPMs or only when you are decelerating? We have similar setups with a couple of exceptions. I'm have a MagnaFlow hi-flow cat and am running 2.5" pipe from the cat to the cans and I don't hear raspiness. But I think that may be subjective. Do you think the absence of the cat could be causing the raspiness?

Nevertheless, I'm sure you will work out the kinks. Looks damn good and like the others I would love to hear it.

Youre mufflers are super tucked in...
i wanted to do that with the GS but with stock mufflers. no sure how i would design it so that the added back pressure from the second muffler wouldnt affect performance.

try throwing a glasspack in there? muffles and deepens

as long as the glasspack has nipples inside only and the inside will have to be as big as the oem piping inside or you will lose power.been there done that.

set up looks great chaos

I know what a glasspack does dude, I wouldnt have suggested it if I was clueless about it. I was talking about solving the raspy issue.
I didnt mention anything about power.

I apologize to Chaos. Atleast youre getting bumps for people to see your project.

deadninja has a spectacular aura about
Glad to see that it's a Y-pipe at the end to the dual mufflers as opposed to the T-pipe like someone here had done.

Also noticed that your rear bumper doesn't have the little bumpity diffuser things at the bottom. Did you remove them?

If the rear Y-pipe is not made evenly it will devert exhaust gases to one side more then the other. That's why a true dual exhaust has a single pipe for each exhaust bank with at least one cross-over pipe between the two-single exhaust pipes to even out the exhaust pressure.

Also if you removed the resonator and depending on which muffler you have installed will make a difference in your exhaust sound.

Guess nobody likes it...

I did figure out what the squeek was though. I was tightining the screw on my GPS so it didn't flop about on the pull.

I apologize to Chaos. Atleast youre getting bumps for people to see your project.

I'd put a huge Mobil 1 Banner on my mom without being sponsored.

Of course she's like 400lbs and has herpes.

GREAT PROJECT Chaos. I like the sound of it. You know though, I wouldn't worry about that rasp at redline. I heard mine start doing it once I put the CAI on and I don't think there is anything that we can do to really stop it. Can't help a beastly v6 screaming at it's breakpoint....
