Split Intake Pipe?
Okay just a question, so don't bite my head off.
I've seen many custom/modified intakes across board. Some half-assed and others working just as good, if not better, than specifically manufactured ones. My question is, is it possible to split an intake pipe to pull from two different areas? My guess is that the two areas of suction may compete to the point where it hinders the airflow, but thats just a guess. I dunno , I'm a visualizer, not an engineer. Can anyone negate this theory or offer some input? Maybe like this??? ![]() Some other pics I found researching ˅˅˅ ![]() ![]()

looking at the top one, the airflow would take the path of least resistance, so i would think air would come through the sri part more and render the cai part useless (prob lose hp). the middle looks like it would work well tho

^ I sort of agree but I dont think it would make it worthless just it wouldnt add anything, the only thing I can see with splitting it is that it would have to be perfectly simetrical I would think to get the best outcome, or the air wouyld just take the easiest way and you wouldnt really benefit from it...

unless it is properly engerineered. it will cause a venturi effect . in which it will cause a vacuum within the system and maybe cause a check engine light.

Good point, our MAF/IAT Sensor doesn't like a bad air flow and if the air doesn't come across it correctly wil give you and SES Light/TCL.

yeah... you aren't to get any more airflow with that, simply because you are still restricted at the spot where it comes back into 1 pipe.
it's the same thing as fake dual exhaust.

Exactly what Carl said. It will function no differently really, as long as the MAF is after the two pipes join, the car still pulls the same amount of metered air, and you shouldn't see a performance LOSS. You just won't gain anything.
It may look cool, but will do you no good. Just cost you extra pipe and for me, another $50 K&N cone that I don't want to buy lol.
