6G75 forged engine

Hey guys I am in Australia.

Been lurking around the forum here for a while.

I don't own any of the vehicles hosted here but we have a model 380/9g that uses a 6g75 as some of yours here have.

So in case anyone is interested I have finished a build of a forged 6G75.
It's all forged, balanced, ported and is ready to go in the car in two days.

I waited and watched another similar thread on here but it has been quiet for a few months there so here is my build.

It's my first build so go easy on me.

It's a supercharged vehicle already and I want to increase from 7 psi with stock internals to 12 psi with fully forged internals.

The engine reconditioner tells me it is bullet proof/indestructible.

It may be of interest to some.

I elected to have custom forged pistons made up, instead of reboring the block to fit the pistons, each piston is mated to the block.

The rods are huge and the crank already forged has been Nitride treated to a depth that is obscenely hard.

Heads are all polished, ported etc etc

Here are pics of the engine at the rebuilders workshop.

Interestingly the best con rods came from a US company and are same rods as they supply for a 6G74 engine...worth noting.

enjoy!

Here are a few happy snaps in random order for your enjoyment.

The entire engine will be fully balanced, the crank is away being Nitride treated at the moment.

the other man

6g75 sump showing baffles

more of the same

the block, no lip which is great

another view of the block

heads

another heads pic

old pistons etc, still perfectly serviceable.

oil pump mechanism

old and new piston comparison

another old and new comparison

The bolts are stamped ARP

kit of bits

another kit view, rings etc...rings are cast by the way, as per the stock rings

note the new rod's busihing, the pin is tapered inside to reduce weight.

Pauter logo

note the massive improvement in material mass

Here is the engine bay that the motor will be going into.

(The forged 6G75 is a spare engine)

Note the Sprintex supercharger at the rear next to firewall...

Will be going from 7 psi to 12 psi

Sweet work. I'd be interesting in seeing the list of parts you swapped out for the motor build.

Im sure it would RPW offered it at cost if anyone wanted to test it, but no one has taken them up on it yet

And that why there are still only 2 turbod GT's and one option for a Super Charger for some reason everyone is afraid to be the first to do something

-pistons custom made by SPS forgeing company in Australia.
-rods from the US..."Pauter" brand
-arp rod bolts
-nitride treatment on crankshaft
-CNC heavy duty bearing shell
-balancing by removing crank material, replacing with heavier mass dowel
-head port and polish
-cams untouched
-stock head gasket
-8.5 static compression ratio
-sump gaskets,etc...stock
-cast rings supplied by pauter

-no rebore, measurement of each bore and custom piston each cylinder.
-light hone, engine had only done 25k miles out of a wreck.

Hope that's clear enough.

If I owned an Ecllipse i would modify the firewall to make it fit.
I have that much satisfaction in the performance of the unit.

It comes with a piggy back ECU..a perfect power SMT6 which drives a 7th injector to dump fuel in the manifold on large power demand.

The supplied ECU mapping out of the box just works on our cars.
The piggy back kit does have a version that you can tune your own maps yourself.

Here is my stock one, power is so smooth and no violence.

It's tuned for street use, not the drag strip.

It has a LSD so takeoffs are superb....something that is a must for FWD cars...note no torque steer, camera is on steering wheel.

Remember its a 9G, your car is much lighter and would fly like a rocket in comparison.

YouTube - Redblower's Channel

anyway...just wanted to talk about the engine forgeing cause doesn't seem to be anyone on the net that has posted about finishing it yet.

Close, but not quite accurate.

My car has had the supercharger added after it left the factory.

The factory fitted ones only came in 20 cars, they are collectors items, most went into museums and private collections and never get driven.

The car pictured in the start of this thread is not a TMR380....it is a stock 9G GT with accessories added to bring it near the same spec.

TMR - Team Mitsubishi Ralliart sold me the supercharger kit.

I would not perservere with RPW, they are..err...in a different league.

Having said that...I do own a TMR380 as well...just rarely drive it.

The GT is my daily driver and dont really want to put a lot of miles up on this TMR380...it's too rare to fiddle with.

I fiddle with the dark red GT...more boost...forged...LSD...AWD...

Here's some pics , don't drive it much.

Anyway...a forged 6G75 can be done, has been done.

And it's not rocket science either.

So get on with it guys, turbo charge it if that's easier.

Thanks for the info I did not know they only made 20 of the ralliart version. There are a couple guys who working on building forged 75's right now. There is also a guy with a Vortec SC that bored it out to 4.0

Question since you are from AUS the statement you made about RPW? Is there something you can shed some light on, or something we should know?

Didn't RRE test the alpIne supercharger, not this one. And we know forged is possible. There's one already out there and another 8 coming this summer. You can push way more then 12 psi.

Yes you can see it. He is using the TMR Kit, which actually came on the TMR 380 stock @ 7-8 psi

Oh and joey if you have heard a Mustang, Vette, Dodge, or GTP that is what it sounds like

Nope stock header has twin precats.

Kit i am using has twin mandrel bent pipes with Euro4 emissions compliant fitted rear cat back with relocated lower O2 sensors behind it.

Fully emissions compliant...just louder, breathes better and more power.

about 20hp more just by doing that.

The sprintex supercharger manufacturer claims that the volumetric efficiency of their blower is higher than anyone elses...that means charge temperature is lower.

With the bullet proof engine i will put it to the test.

But...am having "Laminova " cores fabricated into the plenum chamber as an IC solution just in case.

read about laminova cores here from the Aus distributor, am sure you have one in the US as well.

Laminova Intercooler Tech

Did I mention i have a custom LSD in my auto?

It's a must with that much power.

The Quaife QDH7B is the best for our drivetrains.

But it needs machining of the crown wheel, the splines on the driveshafts need resetting and case hardening.

No wheel spin or torque steer though...

Just noticed it's 4 am in the US and 8pm saturday night here in Aus....LOL

Please get your car up and runnin and do 15 psi man I want to see it alive
rings are cast, no need to bore, easier to forge pistons to bore size according to the machinist, valve springs are fine apparently...

The key was turned at 5:30 this evening and the engine roared into life...first time.

Just sounds like a new engine, no rattles or whistles...just a smooth whine.

Unfortunately the smaller supercharger pulley was machined all wrong and doesn't fit.

So will just be running around on 7.5 psi still.

Probably won't hurt to run it on a proven relieable boost for a week or so...
