at least open up your engine.
get CAI - headers - exhaust. that should be about 1K right there, and all bolt on.

put in the CAI-Header-Exhaust, then practice practice practice. If after that you want more, get a bottle. good luck, man! let us know if you beat his ass...sorry, when you beat his ass.

i have gt thorttle body, injen cold air intake, magnaflow catback, rre underdrive pulley, throttle body bypass, short shifter, and brat box(not that i even know if its helping). all this helped me beat an 06 si the other day. was very close and may have just been drivers race but none the less i held my own. soooo do these things which will be about $1000 and you should have no problems. for another $1400 get a cam, header, and f/ic with wideband and you will be just that much better!

Just doing a quick comparison, your going to need the minimum of CAI, Exhaust, and headers to reach his HP leave and lose about 400lbs or gain some more HP to over-come that weight, so Throttle Body, TB By-pass, Spacers, and or maybe just a little spray
.2.0 - torque 139 - HP 197 - weight 2895 2.4 - torque 162 - HP 162 - weight 3272

^^no its just a high reving engine, no need for torque when its that light otherwise yould just spin tires. Learn to use the porty, exactly when to slap it to get the best shift time and start out against him at a 20 roll in second at the third honk slap down and gun it. Ive tried both just being in first at 20 and gunning it and slapping it down, when it hits 6000 slap up. When you reach 60 you will be in your sweet spot while hes shifting for the third time. same goes for 30-38mph hell be starting in a new gear at the bottom of the ppwer band. Take this tip and practice you cant go wrong. Trust me i know a little about shifting, i have to shift 5 times to get to 15 in my rig. I do that hundreds of times a night so i got the auto because after 12 hrs and a billion shifts, when you get to your car you just wanna throw the fucker in go and gun it.

race him to 110, you shift twice, he shifts 4 times. Use this to your advantage. You find out your sweet spots cause they wont be his and chose the launch speed. Just whatever you do dont fuck up your tranny and make the belts slip by reving it up to 2000 in neutral and slapping it in go. YOU WILL FUCK UP YOUR TRANNY. I have found this out in a couple of cars. 89 iroc, 87 stanza, 04 kia rio. I won all the races but what a price. Just buy yourself a higher stall speed torque converter. Your tcs will drop your revs if you spin your tires. So if you can ask him to start at a 20 roll

Mmmm... yeah. Heavy heffer, small engine. $1,000 had better buy you some boost in a bottle. Else you're really just wasting money.
Sorry, that's just the plain-Jane truth. Blow that budget up about 5K, get 4G63-T heads, do a swap, fuel pump, rails, injectors, plumbing and boostware; a CT9A Evo EMS, factory harness, and call it a day

Ok, I lied... you also need pistons and rods. But these are pretty common and available so... another 1,200-1,500. (guess)

^^^ stroker kit i assume? Otherwise unnessecary. Mitsu graced us with a bottom half that can handle up to ~540 bhp. Excellent suggestions though. Dont forget the quezenark on the roof. An old appolo 3 stage saturn v might do the trick. Then and only then will you go past light speed to mivec speed. Einstien didnt have an eclipse. His formula should have read E=m(gs)^2

all in all, get tires first and foremost, practice and youll be fine. It doesnt matter what you have under the hood if your not antiquaited with your car. a couple of boltons will help. I/h/e, underdrive pulley, gt tb, and thi fi/c wideband with a good tune will get you on par w/ his hp. Then its up to you. About 2500$ and youll be happy with a somewhat quick and reliable car that will beat out v6 stangs as well (up to ’11)

I want a Gallo 24 engine for my car. Maybe a Gallo 12 if the 24 is too expensive.
