SilverSniper's blown motor

I haven't been on the forum in for ever. Not much for social networking on line I guess. Anyhow I see that people have been blowing motors that are supercharged.
I am now on that list. I was running stage 2 @ about 8psi along with with meth/water injection. My last dyno was May 27, 2008 @ 404 whp.
Now my # 3 piston is fried. Broke apart above the compression ring. Now I am not a gear head . I had the head tec @ Southside Mitsu in Edmonton install all the power mods for 2 reasons- I don't have the skill or knowledge & I wanted it done right. So, some of the answers to some of your questions I will have to ask my tec.
What I've been told so far (all speculation). The owner of S.S. Mitsu who boosted his Evo X over 500 hp & tracks it all the time(blew it up too) thinks it may have been pre-ignition. Head tec. thinks it maybe 2 things- Heat, they have to replace alot of coils on # 3 or, just can't handle 7-8 psi.
Bought a used motor with about 30k miles for $2600. Will remove supercharger, bratt, boost & black box, meth water injector, catch can, Hayden oil cooler. Install light weight flywheel & Clutchmasters 4 puck ceramic clutch into used motor & hook it all back up to the headers etc. I will be selling SDS & car, but that is for a different thread.
Sucks big time... I only had 15000 miles!
A few pics

I'm sorry for the loss I really am, but with all this money invested into the car why didnt you beef up the internals in the first place? I can push 8+lbs rite now if I wanted but that doesnt mean I should do it. I'm not here to rag on you or give you shit even if I come off like that, it just baffles me how people can spend thousands of $ on making a car go faster when they sometimes skip the bare bones of the project... the internals.

Do you have any vids of the car when it ran at 404? I would enjoy seeing them

gspower, thanks for pulling up that vid. It made me smile. Elemenohpee- I was just naive in believing some people that 7-8 psi is still pretty low.

Again man i'm sorry to hear it but from that video it looked amazing, a damn shame such a nice car is dead rite now. It is what it is and just take this as one of those life lessons we all hate. Good luck with future builds though

Tell us about the failure silversniper was it catastrophic and quick, or did you have nagging symptoms that got worse? Loss of oil pressure? Overheating? Knocking?

There was some quiet knocking, not very loud at all. First ride this year I did wot from 3rd gear & bounced off the rev limiter in 4th. Let off the throttle & it was running on 5 cylinders & hard to keep at idle. Still drivable but barely. Oil pressure was fine, no overheating.

So before it blew sky high you had some noise? Kinda like a louder than usual valve tick?

Not fun. So the car was able to hold a steady temp and oil pressure on 5 cyl? Thats wild.

My first engine blew after I had the car maybe 2 months. All I had then was intake. The second time was a year later.

WTF?? Sounds like you just had a bad engine. I just can't see swapping out an intake would be responsible for something like that.

Now my wife back when she had a Saturn SC1 (I think that's what it was) had the engine replaced 3 times under warranty so I suppose it's possible...but not because of the intake.
