Question So about the AEM F/IC....(HELP!)

So, until I learn how to use this darn thing I should probably just go to a tune shop and let them tune it for me AFTER I finish installing all my mods right?

Is that correct?

They can set my A/F Ratio and stuff for me? Sorry, I'm a total n00b about this stuff....

And should I just plug this sucker up as soon as I get it, or wait until I can get to a tune shop to actually plug it up to my car?

Basically what should be my first move when I get this thing?

Sorry for being so broad with my question(s), but I'm really just THAT stupid.

Thanks guys, you're always awesome about stuff like this, so I look forward to whatever help you have to offer....

Damn, I'd be lost without this place....

HOMESLICE has a spectacular aura about
X2 for me. i really am new to tuning myself and was wondering what this thing can do. Does the gt 6 spd have a governor and does the fi/c raise it for top speed?

guys, you really want to take it to an AEM tuning shop and have them dial in your AFR curve for you. Otherwise you could spend the rest of your lives trying to get it right. Once you learn a little more about it you can probably tweak your tune and get some insight into what is happening by watching your maps while you drive - but for now, save yourself the pain, pay $175 - $240 or so and have a professional get you on a dyno and tune you up proper.

What do you mean 'AEM tune shop'? Can some tuning places not handle this?

Sweet, there's a super nice state of the art speed shop right up the road from me, like literally like 2 miles so I'll probably just take it to them.

Thanks Joey.

One more thing, should I go ahead and plug the harness in or just wait until I get there and let those guys mess with it?

Everything Joey said is on point, I would also like to add though that their is a set of YouTube vids I bumped in the forums that cover almost everything this thing can do. Even if you don't wanna mess with it, always good to learn as much as you can about it. After all you didn't spend that chunk of money for nothing rite

Edit: here is the link, no go watch!!! Some AEM FI/C vids.. this might help

Btw, I found a local shop that sells AEM Wideband UEGO gauge kits for $200 -- digital or analog. Is that a pretty good price?

Thats the normal price anywhere online or at retail. Get the digital one, it's easier to read IMO especially for something as precise as AFR

Word.

I'm soooo glad pretty much all my big purchases are out of the way and I can start focusing on little shit. Haha, good feeling....

I've put out some major dough the last couple weeks but my car is quickly becoming a beast ;

oh yeah man, you for sure want that wideband...you MUST know your AFR or tuning will be all but impossible. Sorry I didn't make that clear.

no problem man! about the harness, why not just wait, especially if you don't have the wide-band sensor in their yet. you really need that piece of the puzzle before you can tune anyway. you could put the harness in and just leave it unplugged until you're ready to go all in. you'll need to get a bung for the o2 sensor welded into your exhaust but it's not big deal. $50 - $75 at the exhaust shop.

What do I need the 02 sensor welded for? I'm about to put RRE headers on if that matters.

Do I have to get that welded before I get a tune?

I'm kinda sorta confused haha....
