Soo b4 I get under my car this weekend I got a few questions

1. Long tubes, I see the only reason most people are putting spacers and crap is becauss they dont want a light on and throw any codes. I could care less. Soo will that have any bearing on my performance at all? Do I need the o2s in there at all?

2. I read the write up on changing the clutch, last guy I saw changing mine though didnt remove the passenger wheel or axels. Soo do I need to remove it? And will simple stands give me enough clearance to do what I need to do? And how much does the tranny weigh? Im a pretty strong guy and I dont see any way to actually get any kind of jack I have under there to lower and raise it back up.

3. And why is the entire underside of my trans covered in oil?

1. it's more then just throwing the code man - if your ECU is seeing something it doesn't like, then you won't get the proper fuel trims/performance. hence, you want to fix that if possible. It seems like after all the hassle everyone has had, it's the cat that is the key to keeping the code off and the ECU happy. so, are you going to have a cat in there? If so, you should be covered. If not, you may want to go ahead and at least try the spacers. the 18mm spark plug defoulers kept the code off for me - but I do have a high-flow cat in there, so that may have something to do w/ it also.

2. I haven't messed w/ my tranny myself, so I can't say. I sure wouldn't try to do it by just lifting it, myself. You need some sort of support. I would assume that removing the wheel, axle is just to give more room, but yeah, I don't see the passenger side wheel being in the way that much. so I would say no on that.

3. it sounds like you have a leak somewhere. not good. probably want to try to locate that and get it fixed.

I dont plan on having the cat. Soo I guess ill get those "L" spacers and see what happens. I was just looking and I guess I could get my small jack under the transmission and along with my arm I should be able to do it unless the transmission is 500lbs.

The Eclipse Service Manual is your best friend even when you are modding. And if people would take the time to read the service manual, and research the mod they are getting ready to do, then you shouldn't run into any problems at all. So many people have made so many mistakes lately, and if you don't follow suit with the mistakes they made, then your install should go perfect. Look up some of my older threads on header installations (-2 years ago), back when people only had minor problems when installing their headers.

Jack the car up like so

Then use other jacks to support the engine and tranny cause u can't hold it I'm telling you now.... Your going to have to remove the underbrace where the front motor mount is and support the engine with a jack or stand..... Now if I were to do it I would drop the entire tranny cause it's only one mount holding it up so pop/pull out bolth axels and support the tranny on a jack and lower it down after removing the driversside mount.... Good luck you will need a helper
There are slot of other things you will have to do also that I have not mentioned... Unbolting the tranny from the block... The starter the shiver linkages the wires (they all unplug) I think the front header will need to come off also but I guess u got long tubes so do that last
