Rre
Once I get a few more mods down the road, where do you get a tune at? I live near RRE and do you think they do tunes? and if so how much? Ballpark

surely they do tunes, right? if they are a race shop...should be about $150 - $225, anything over that is pushing it imo

haha what all do they do with a tune? Im kind of nervous about the headers now because I need to pass smog and I dont want to put them on then take them off right away (6 months). So im thinking of going coilovers first then maybe exhaust, then after smog go for the headers so I can enjoy them haha. Does a tune add any power or anything? What exactly does it do?

What a tune does will change your Air fual ratio and allow the car to perform much better because most cars are dialed in with A/F ratio to allow to you get good gas mileage. Im not saying whis will ruin youre MPA though. thier is honestly an extra 20+ HP hidden in a tune even if youre car is stock

^I don't think you need a tune w/ only a CAI....and yes, you may be right about waiting on the headers until you pass that test...but once you've installed the headers once it isn't that bad. I could do the job in a few hours now.

The mileage may get a tad worse, but nothing noticable I promise. The tune mite require them to add fuel to certain rpm ranges, and common sense would tell you that uses more gas. Again though you won't be able to notice the difference, just the power gain.
Edit: I'm with Joey though wait on the tune till you have more mods so they can tune with those already in place, it just makes things easier. |

Well my future plans, within this next year, are system, headers, coilovers, exhaust. So after those is when you guys recommend it? Does headers or exhaust do anything to gas mileage? Just curious

Anything that opens up youre car and or allow you to go faster quicker will change your gas mileage, its just common sense. More gas to feed more power

You have to buy the FI/C to tune your car. Mike Welsh at RRE can't do anything with your car until you have the FI/C. Now, another thing that is a must to tuning is an AFR Gauge. Don't wanna make some fuel trim adjustments and lean out too far and result in detonation.
I know Mike sells a really nice setup on the FI/C + Harness + Wideband O2. Just hit him up, call him. Who knows, you might get a nice little hookup if you buy all the parts through him and tune through him. Also if you're going to MOD 2011 in Cypress, CA then the whole RRE crew will be there also. They go every year along with the Dynapack and do a dyno shootout. Hit them up there and I'm sure he can give you answers. |

the whole modding your car wont necessarily mean you are losing your MPG, in most cases you are adding to it by adding a cat-back for example. The only time you literally destroy your mpg is when you are on the pedal feeling all that power you added.

Its still a nice half hour-45 min drive for me haha. But ya its really tempting to go in there, I almost feel like a traitor for not having ever gone in yet. Ive been to DDM Tuning does that count? =D ahahaha
