Custom Exhaust Help

Alright, I have a custom Exhaust set-up where i'm running a Header-back Exhaust, but I have replaced the Stock Cat Converter with at 2.5" Vibrant Performance High Flow Converter. Although it sounds good revving, at some points, it doesn't sound good.

For Example: If I switch to slapshifting, everytime it slows down, I hear a "Grinding" noise. I'm not sure if it's the Cat Converter moving around, or what, but it doesn't sound good going down the road.

Just need some advice, and I'm not removing it (wish I could but I really don't want to get in trouble with cops) and not getting another converter. So, do you think it would just be best to put the stock Cat Converter back in or will I just have to end up buying another converter. Please help if possible. thanks

Have you been under there to see if your exhaust is hitting anything? When you replace the converter after you cut it out you have to get the exhaust back just right like it was from the factory or the exhaust at the bend before the axle will hit or rub on the axle. I'd check it out towards the rear of the car.

They should....I've heard the sound your describing. Mine did it when the engine torqued. I screwed up when i did my exhaust the first time and it was hitting on the rear end. Nothing major though!

well, mine sounds like it's coming from the cat itself or somewhere near the front, not the back

I would venture to guess its smacking the crossmember, mine did this when I first had mine done and I had to make some changes. Any kind of metal on metal noise is just contact/vibration. The heat shields suck!!

well, can anyone show me what their custom exhaust underneath their car looks like. I think my cat converter is in the wrong place
