Well that sucks...good advice on the FIC though. Kinda wonder if you had some codes going on and the car was in "safe" mode. When I put my headers on (OBX LTs) I immediately felt the difference. I didn't have a FIC at the time and have not finished installing the one I bought yet.

It def flows better but were back to the whole back pressure debate...may feel faster but you lost power. Especially at the bottom end.

What were your AFR's?
If you installed headers, your car will start running even more rich. This _WILL_ kill your performance. Get an FI/C and lean that sucker out to about 11.8-12.2 AFR and you'll be screaming in no time. Also what you have to think about when doing headers or any exhaust modification is the natural physics of exhaust gas. From the moment that it leaves your cylinder as burnt fuel/air mixutre it is losing heat and expanding. When you up the size of your piping or delete things like catalytic converters you will see a noticeable performance gain but also have to worry about the rapid expansion and cooling of exhaust gas as it travels down your pipe to the rear of your car. Something you have to think about is how to get the best velocity of gas leaving the car but at the same time keeping enough heat to produce that velocity. Using a catalytic converter is the PERFECT way to reheat that exhaust gas leaving the cylinders thus keeping the velocity up of it and reducing the expansion to a level where it will flow better out of the vehicle. It also depends on where you will spend most of the time in your RPM range. If you're at WOT about 90% of the time then a huge pipe will be beneficial to you due to the need for exhaust to be evacuated at high rates, but if you're talking about a daily driver here you have to consider keeping a good mix of the size of pipe and the flow rate with everything. Just some food for thought. Hope I didn't confuse you at all. |

my RRE headers added 20 whp... same dyno and all...
what size are the ripp's again? is the piping bigger than RRE? just asking, never followed ripp to be honest... |

RRE uses both intermediary pipes, and keeps the 3rd cat.

K boys when I put these babies on there was a def gain. A couple days ago I was driving with no music and said hmmm I know when my girl sounds different. Jacked her up to find one of Tue three bolts that bolt the header to the pipe was gone. Would really decrease the power that much though. And I deleted all cats and put in a magnaflow highflow cat.
