Cai problems... Help?
So dan and i threw in the f5 fujita cai today.. wasn't exactly easy but it happened. Durring the install i connected the mounting bracket as instructed.. clamps on the tb everything.
I turn on the car everything sounds great real nice... I back it out of the drive way and my car has a harrrrrsh idle. sooo vie herd of this happening when people add headers i figured id give it a few miles. Then my car idles sooo harsh it literally cuts power and dies in the middle of the f'in street.. kept cool and just started it up again... it happens again.. then a third time.. the check engine light and everything comes on.. i have to rev it and drop drive to even get it to drive for me.. So i pull over i see what the problem was. the tb hose was like half off and i was getting no power, this happened not because we didn't tighten all the way but because the bracket mounting thing is off... You can have on or the other a secure place for the intake or one that works.. i unmounted it from the bracket and lined it up with the tb correctly.. or should i say dan came and rescued me. My question is now... Is there some sort of thing i can make to hold it in place better? like a different bracket that connects? If anyone has a fujita cai what did you do? |

Good job man. Ingenuity is everything.
Be careful for that bracket though. Since you have the 1 piece fujita you're gonna want some rubber washers or something on it to allow for flex. I've seen a few guys snap that bracket because when you're engine goes into MIVEC under load it kicks and throws a fit under the hood like crazy. Get on the dyno sometime and watch it. It's pretty impressive. |

With the Injen CAI it mounts to the engine, so when the engine rolls, the CAI rolls with the engine, With the Fujita CAI it mounts to the frame, so when the engine rolls the CAI has to fight/pulls on the frame/CAI installation. But nice fix!! Might even thing about upgrading your engine mounts/roll stoppers with the Energy Motor Mounts from RRE, this will help your engine roll less and take some stress off the CAI mount. Plus you will have better torque, smoother shifting, and less torque steer.
