Custom Stock intake??+headlights

Note: I did search, and found nothing for a few pages. Even googled -_-
So I've been throwing this idea around to drill like 1 1/2 inch holes after the filter in my stock intake. My dads racing friend said that people actually do that. So did the guy at Napa.
Also, should I remove the spout that comes out too, or just leave that there?
Also, My headlight mounts are broken on both sides. How would I be able to raise them/ keep them/ measure them back to where they were? I can take pics on what it looks like. The bracket thingy on top is broke. Thats the only bracket broke on both.
Thanks - George.

your by passing the filter so you better hope its not dusty or dirty where you drive. and you will expose the intake to more hot air

Umm why dont you just get a cai or sri for more air? That way you still have the oem one, so if something breaks you can do a quick swap and still bring the car in for warranty work, without having to worry about them refusing to do the work cause your intake is drilled out.

Because, sadly enough, I can't afford it. Being 17 is horrible when looking for jobs. Why you have to be 18 to be a pizza deliverer? Idfk.

so u drill holes after the filter meaning that unfiltered air is going into ur engine . . . plus this seems like it would cause air to leak instead of intake .

You should of bought the CAI before you bought a header. Basically what you have done is put the plow before the horse.

I do not know the emission laws of your state, but it is not wise to cut up/throw away your stock parts, as you may need them later on in a few years and have to scramble around try to search and buy them again.

How did you break your tabs? do you still have them? you can try some plastic weld and glue them back together. If not... zipties are your friend.

redlenses has a spectacular aura about
Might want to try this before you start cutting holes in things:

Quick easy (FREE) performance tip 3.8L

I'm assuming the GS & GT intakes are similar, but I could be wrong.

Pearlgreen, you need to just save up for a real intake, doing anything ghetto on these cars is just asking for massive failure, they arent ae86 corollas or 240sx where you can basically do whatever you want and make power(lol I know I'm wrong here). Buy real performance parts that everyone uses and knows about

lol,i did what i wanted for 19k hard miles with different custom intake setups.car runs like the day i bought it.only reason i started doing that dumb shit was because of the stickie thread pertaining to heat with a sri.regardless,my injen sri is on its way....lol.so in point, there is no reason to make a custom intake on the gs.either get an injen sri or dc,fujita cai.

I've read on here that sri is actually better for the gs than a cai... with gains of 15 hp~ vs 9 hp...
So an Injen sri huh? Still about 250$ though right?

you can make one that will work pretty good for about $80.you will however need to use the oem maf holder pipe.last couple of days i have been doing more experimenting eliminating the box alltogether(was using it as a heat shield and works great when moving) and pretty much positioned it like the injen sri.turns out, thats some pretty good positioning on the gs.i still and will allways have the snorkel hooked up.i dont have a pic of this in my album atm,but you can get the idea of how you can make one.i have an injen sri coming in the mail to test that bitch out to lol
And where did you get you injen sri, and how much? I'll get serious about it if i land this job...
