Ok well im going to start off the conversation like this... I know everyone has it bad with the heat rite now. But I really do think I have it the worst.. today my internal car temp was reading 109 all day as I was driving the startup temp was was 117. Now the heat index today for clarksville is 121F with a temp of 106 and a 90% humidity, the SECOND you step outside you get wet.
Now my car... CANT handle this. my room mate his car.. CANT handle this. I have talked to all of my F/I friends today around town we are ALL having the same problem. We will accelerate and the bwahhhh POP POP JERK!!!!! like the car goes fucking crazy at random points in time It feels like fuel is getting cut and the car jerks a fuck ton it sounds like im blowing a piston (even though thats not what is happening)... even a stock GTI i know is doing the same thing. Are fuel management is going to hell even the people with stock cars and factory tunes, my IC cold side... stays warm I seriously cant beat this heat and my car cant take this abuse. I dont know what to do and its going to boil down to me paying for a rental on hot days if I have to. If anyone knows how to fix this problem please let me know, it has nothing to do with my tune because its happening to multiple people but it only seems to be happening to forced induction people im really worried, fuck this heat FUCK THIS HEAT. We are going to have a heat index like this for the next few weeks so if anyone knows any temp solution please let me know... thanks guys |

i cant help you but i feel your pain bro.today was the hottest day in portland this year !! hell right now,its still fckin hot !
edit;try removing all the rubber from underneath the hood and rear seal.their are t clips so you can put the rubber back.allso you could try to add washers to the hood bolts to let the heat escape more until the temps go back to normal.

AEM Water/Methanol Injection Kits - Water-Meth Injection Systems for Turbo/Super - Wideband O2 UEGO, Water/Methanol, Stand Alone Engine Management, Piggyback F/IC, Tru Boost Controller, Gauges, Automotive Performance Electronics
This will help you can also ceramic coat the inlet pipe and add a extra fan to keep engine bay temps down. A after market radiator better cmf slim fans, water weter, Oil cooler will all play a big part in the overall cooling. You can all so open up your Windows and put the heater on it will suck for you but help the car. Other then that like said dry ice in a custom box for fuel or inlet pipe. Then you got me that's all I got for you. Last edited by bullet06; August 3rd, 2011 at 08:36 PM. |

oh man I hear you and I sympathize greatly. it is ridiculous to say the least. my gauge in my house says 101 by noon and 112 by the end of the day here in Oklahoma. I feel sorry for the poor sods in Texas. My car sitting outside for just a short short time gets so fucking hot it's almost unbearable to sit in. I am LUCKY as a mf that it sits in the garage, shielded from this bullshit. If I actually had to take it out and drive it each day to work or something, I don't know what I would do. My A/C in my house has a tough time keeping up, seems to run all day, and is costing me a fortune each electric bill that comes thru.
My car has enough problems as it is, and overheating on a FI (turbo no less) would be very tough to deal with so I feel for you greatly man. sorry sorry sorry. maybe the rental is the way to go on some of these days.I know the popular thing is to not believe in global warming, but all I know is that it has NEVER been this bad, and seems to get worse every year. I have lived here for 30 years, nearly my whole life, and 100 degree days were very rare 10 years ago, and non-existent 20 years ago. 5 years ago they seemed to becoming more and more common, and now they are the norm during this brutal summer. All I know is what I see and experience and observe...and I am observing the summers getting hotter and hotter - to the point where I want to move away from here, further up north. sorry again bro. do whatever you have to.

Thanks for the input guys little update my buddy's car got a little worse so did mine, it's def pet ignition and I tried changing a few fuel maps and it does the same thing. But here is the catch it idles perfectly it's all on the throttle so at this point I know it's not an isolated incident with my car so that's a little relief but not what I really wanted. I see what tomorrow has in store and take it from their.

Yeah I know rite, but for real it was happening to like 5+ of my F/I friends all on the same day we had no idea what to do. I cant begin to tell you not how hot it was but how HUMID it was ive never experienced a day like that in my life anywhere in the world.. itfelt like a pressure cooker. I mean it looked like we had fog outside from all the water vapor in the air. My car wouldnt even start at 11:30 PM (which was 101 and 95% humidity) all it would do is turn over and this was when my engine was ice cold! It was so scary.... Im going to hope and pray a day with those conditions never hits this town again.
But again like I said the next day started rite up, ran like a champ... even today runs like a champ. Even had time to bust a civic si but it wasnt even worth a story in the race section they come dime a dozen now |
