Oil filter replacement

Okay so im doing this oil change myself this time.
90 bucks for full synthetic oil change at local shops is not worth it.

Got Mobil 1 full synthetic 5 qts
K & N oil filter Ive tried searching if there is any gains from using it but all i see is people Claming 3-6 horsepower and 3 mpg increase.

W.e

I found the filter location, Ive searched for the tool i need. Anyone have an opinion what works better to remove the old one? Oem Tool or a Steel band wrench? like this one OEM/3 7/16 to 3 3/4 in. swivel TPR handle oil filter wrench (25371) | Oil Filter Wrench | AutoZone.com
Anything else that Im Missing that would be important?
I see people saying that there are misc o rings or w.e but really do i need to go to the dealership and buy parts for an oil change?

trying to not be completely nooby about this post because i know how much everybody hates anti searching fools.

Steel band wrench should be fine. Pretty easy to remove. You can go to autozone and ask for the tools, they'll point you in the right direction.

Well I haven't owned my Eclipse for that long...but I found that my left hand works just fine and no tools were needed for this job at all.

If your oil filter was put on by the Hulk, then you can always try the old "screwdriver through the filter trick".

Good luck.

glbg is on a distinguished road
I changed the oil on my son's 06 GT, I used the ff:
- cap wrench size F
- Mobil 1 5w-20
- Mobil M1-110
- 17mm socket
-crush ring (got it from the dealer)
-torque wrench (26ft-lbs to torque it)
I normally buy in bulk when Advance Auto Part has it on sale for ~$32 (5 quarts and the filter).

And if this is the first oil change for this engine, the filter will be a bitch to take off. Mitsu stores their engine and/or transports their engines, so they use a sealant on all seals, so if you have the use of, or know someone who owns a gorilla, by all mean use it!!

The torque on the drain plug is 30 ft/lb
Oil filter, lightly coat the new rubber seal with clean oil, hand tight until it seats, then 1/4 turn with the wrench.

NAPA/Wix filters here. Buy them by the case from a friend who works there, my cost is about $3- each in a case.

Also use a fumoto quick-change oil drain valve (#F-106).

Filter and oil top off every 3500 miles, complete oil change at 10500 miles.

M1 5-30 full synth.

I did the oil change its not the first, its actually the 3rd. Full synth mobil 1 5w-30 with a K & N Oil filter. took it out for a test run and it is smooth running. Whole process took awhile cause i was just chilling but it worked out.
