Engine Problem
506 eclipse gt,lately has been running rather odd.when im going about 60mph or more & step on the throttle the rpm's go back to 4,000 & take a while to get back up to redline.once it hits redline it goes back all the way to 4,000.
i don't have a clue what it might be.if anyone knows what it might be or have experienced this issue before it would really help me. |

06 my bad, its a 6 speed manual transmission. my check engine light just came on, so i went to autozone to see what trouble shooting codes they come up with was P0304:
-ignition sytem faulty - fuel system faulty-injectors or pressure -vacuum leak -engine mechanical condition If u know what could be the problem, or heard something similar to what i am experiencing, every little hint will help. dnt really have the time or money to go get it checked by a Mitsubishi authorized dealer. |

Check Vacuum leaks...
If you have a CAI or SRI make sure you double check the intake manifold vacuum source for the stock intake flapper valve thingy is either plugged or connected to a suitable source. That's the most common one I know of. |

P0304, Cylinder 4 misfire detected, Page 13B-579
If you have a misfire your engine will go into safe-mode, i.e. you'll have a hard time accelerating over 4000 rpm's. DTC P0304: Cylinder 4 Misfire Detected, Page 13B-579 http://tearstone.com/eclipsefsm/2006...05900C-13B.pdf Sensor (The sensor below is determined to be normal) •Camshaft position sensor •Mass airflow sensor •Engine coolant temperature sensor •Intake air temperature sensor •Barometric pressure sensor •Throttle position sensor TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS (The most likely causes for this code to be set are) •Ignition system related part(s) failed. (fouled plug, bad coil pack, clogged injector, manifold leak, shorted wiring harness from ECU to injector) •Low compression pressure. •ECM failed. •PCM failed.
