Aem Fic question

I've searched for this and haven't come up with anything.
I want to purchase the aem fic and i want to know if it's worth it even if I don't plan on going fi? I have obx long tubes on the way and i have full exhaust straight pipe, cai and outlaw spacers. I would like more power. How much more power can I get with the fic? Do I need to go with bigger injectors or is that ONLY for boost? After all the bolt ons are done and I have the fic how much power should I expect? That's including the spacers too. How else can I get more power with n/a? Any info would be great guys. I just really want to know how good the fic is since its not cheap. And who's harness should I use? There's a chance I might go with fi next summer but I'm putting the car away for winter soon.
Cheers.

Mods that change the output of your engines require some level of tuning to make better use of the add-ons. If you go to the tuning forums in c4g, you will find this info in the sticky notes.

our cars from the factory come rich. so no matter what getting the fic will be beneficial to get the most out of your bolt on mods. be sure to get brianjs PNP harness along with it.

4g's have seen up to 20whp from tuning with the fic. By leaning out the fuel to 12.5 at wide open throttle. As well as advanced timing to 32*. Cars may vary from bolt ons and environment for power gained.

In a word, YES.

Depends on exactly how rich you are now...it'll be a very noticeable difference for you. We've seen 20hp on most GT's and some as high as 30hp with the timing advance.

No. That's just for boost applications.

Again, this is going to depend on several factors...dyno used, dyno setup, where you live, how it's tuned, etc.etc. There's a ton of factors there. No matter what though, you'll see MORE power with tuning, regardless if you're full bolt-on, completely stock, or somewhere in between. You'll also get better fuel mileage, and much better throttle response...it'll feel like a different car!

^Very helpful in me making a decision. A couple of questions though. First, why does it depend on how rich I am....? Do you mean air to fuel or how deep my pockets are? Second, why does it make a difference where I live?

I meant how rich your car is running. These cars are stupid rich from the factory, some worse than others, but all way too rich.

I was refering to the dyno numbers here. If you live near sea level your numbers will be higher. The higher the altitude the less the HP. For example, if you take your car and you dyno it at 5000 ft. above sea level, you'll get a number. Then drive your car and that same dyno down the mountain to sea level and dyno again...your numbers will be higher.

The dyno is meant as a tuning tool. Nothing more, nothing less. Always use the same dyno at the same place, with the same settings. This should give you accurate gains for each of your mods...provided you dyno before and after the mod.

If you get the FIC...you'd be crazy not to get Brian's harness.....it is a work of art and function. It alone will save you a hundred hours of wiring and if you are like me....many mistakes.

if you get the F/IC get the harness. period. this is recommended by AEM in the instructions to the F/IC. I don't see you(anyone) being able to wire it up by themselves, then you are looking at who knows how much $ to get it installed.

my 200 yen.

dont get the FIC without the harness!!! period! but yes you will be able to gain power that is even noticable in the "butt dyno". especially on a GT. At your point in modding its pretty much the only next step. stuff like cams and head porting/increasing compression are the only way to get more power out of an NA engine once all the bolt ons are done... and youll need the FIC to tune for big changes like that anyways!

just a quick question, brian, is your harness the one that comes in the FIC and wiring harness package on RRE, or would you need to be contacted to get it? i just wanted to get this cleared up for the future when i get to this stage.

I'll be buying everything upfront that's required for the FIC, including the UEGO.

RRE may still have some left...I'm not sure. We talked about it when the reflash was announced and I told him I'd be dealing that as well. We thought the Fic woul be dying down some, but it hasnt really been since the reflash still isnt out and theres no ETA. He hasn't ordered in a long while so I don't think he wanted to mess with it anymore as he wasn't making much on the deal and the customer support time was too high.

Either way, I'll continue to make the harnesses as long as people want them!

Brian
