Ses, nooooo!

My SES light is on. OBD says it's the catalytic converter. I have a CAI and axle back. I've read that the 06 GT has a recall for the cats. Sorry, if this is a repost but I'm on my phone and the search isn't usable :/ Is it just the cai or what? And is there any potential damage to be caused if left unattended? I lost the receipt and don't have the number from the OBD. It says catalytic converter and that it could be running rich or have an exhaust leak. I have driven the car with the CAI and axle back for a couple days before the light came on. Any help would be appreciated!!

Cold be a bad o2 but I have the same code. Its the recall. After 80k its considered normal wear. If you have put mods on your warranty is probably voided. Time for headers for you. and yes long term you'll lose engine power, eventually engine will dies

I'm under 80k. So I can't take it in even for the recall with a cai and axle back?

Also, what's long term? Like how many miles until it starts doing something negative

No bc u modded they most likely will not honor warranty. And most dealership are oblivous to the recal. Mine was. And u can ride a while probably 6 months before you really start feeling it. Although im sure you'll start noticing performance decrease in a few weeks

if you search on p0421 there is a ton of discussion on this. sounds like a bad o2 heater wire at most. or it could be something else causing the ECU to see a reading outside the tolerance that is making it THINK that. and yes it could be from one of your bolt on mods. now the good news is it's not the end of the world and shouldn't cause you to much trouble, that being said, you still want to address it. you could use spacers perhaps or maybe just start by checking your o2 sensor. you can do this w/ a multimeter and measure resistance and such to see if it's in the right range. all this should be covered on the threads about this code, and is in the service manual under troubleshooting that code.

Thank you for the good info. I can search when I get somewhere that has internet. For some reason, my phone can't search. When I tap the search bar it opens the keyboard for a split second then closes so I can't type anything. I was planning on getting some RRE headers and I figure that would do it.

you need to clear your catch in your app data; first: go to your settings, Second: go to applications, Third:click the "all" tab at the top of the application page. Fourth: scroll down and click on your multitouch keyboard app, Fifth: Click the clear data button.

ALL FIXED!

Moyer627 is an unknown quantity at this point
Just a little info to throw out there. Just because you read to rich doesn't necessarily mean cat. That could mean you are burning to rich. The purpose of the sensor is to tell you if your car is burning right. Just like if you put a cai on and you don't reset the computer you will throw a lean code. That's not cuz the sensor is shot that's cuz your running lean. The obd 2 scanner will prolly tell you to replace sensor first even know its good. Also running rich hurts performance a little but doesn't hurt the engine. Running lean is when you have to worry to lean can poof the motor.
