phenom has a spectacular aura about
The Custom Exhaust Thread

I'm not sure if something like this has been done before, so it if has, then I will promptly delete the thread. But I have done a lot of searching, and I haven't been able to find anything exactly like it.

The idea of this is to stockpile videos/pictures/details/opinions on CUSTOM exhaust systems. I have read through Vader6's sticky, and it shows a few videos of custom exhausts, but I'm looking for something more in-depth with this. I feel like this thread could be extremely helpful to users who are contemplating going custom because if you do go that route, then there is no way to know how the car is going to sound until it is actually finished. That is, until they see all of their helpful members' replies to this post .

When posting your exhaust, list as many of the following things as possible:
*The components of the system
*How much it cost you (installed)
*Video/Pictures
*Opinion (Do you like it? Is it too quiet? Too loud?)

Thanks in advance to anyone who contributes .

Obx headers, deleted cats...all 3, straight pipe to an HKS muffler.
Cost me $400 for the headers and a shit ton in labor. $200 to do the pipes and flow master muffler before I changed it to the hks which was around $200 thanx to randman. Then it was only $20 to weld on.
There's some videos floating around here.
I love it

rre header, 2.5" from header back with no 3rd cat magnaflow resonator and magnaflow muffler.
header was a little under 400 the rest was 175.
im not sure if i have a video of the current setup but hackerd told me that it is very annoying to be behind, i might go with dual axle back setup to see if that helps with the sound.

Right now I have just a GReddy axle back. I love the sound but I plan to get headers and when I do get a full exhaust. I'm pretty newb. What's the differences in a cat back and a header back in terms of sound and airflow? And what's a cat delete do? I have no clue to whom I should go for an exhaust but I'm gonna ask around cinci and get some quotes.

cat back is what it sounds like it replaces the piping from the catalytic converter back. header back replaces the piping from the header back. sound will be determined is you have a resonator or not, if you keep the cat when replacing the exhaust pipe, by the size of the pipe choosen and what muffler(s) you go with. the cat delete removes the catalytic converter from the exhaust. if you live in an area that does a sniffer test or tailpipe test you might not pass without that cat. people do it to gain some power and sound. best bet is to listen to some of the videos on the site to see which ones sound good and copy those, video will give you a rough idea of the sound but its hard to get the exact sound over video.

Thanks! I know what cat back and header back is. I just didn't know the functional differences. I live in cincinnati and I've never had any of my fours cars sniffed. I'll check out vids and stuff before I make my decision for sure.

no worries man !
well, my setup right now:
RRE headers
3rd cat removed
stock resonator + 22" Magnaflow resonator
Magnaflow muffler
and stock piping in between all that ! sounds really sexy, really quiet at low rpms and screaming up top... "synthetic" (Brandon) can vouch for it

every time i step on it and take it to redline, i wish i had another 3k rpms to go

I have a GT
OBX long tubes (399)
Aeon imports 3" headerback chopped up keeping the resonator (175)
Switchable rear cat (between stock cat and racing cat) (200)
Custom y-pipe before rear axle with dual Magnaflow knock-off mufflers (700)

About as loud as I can stand it.

That would surely cause me clearance issues. If you look at the y-pipe picture I posted you can see that is already the lowest point under the car......extending the pipes behind that to go under the axle just wouldn't work with my drop.

Moyer627 is an unknown quantity at this point
Can anybody tell me the diameter of the magnaflow cat back pipe. I wanna see if it's worth it to get the cat back or just the muffler.

mivecpower is on a distinguished road
i have resonator delete and dc muffler with a dc cai, sounds real good and deep, and pretty loud. i would like it louder though, but dont know if i should do a high flow cat, test pipe, or if its even worth it and should just leave it alone
