I have a 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT
I just want a STAGE 1 Clutch, nothing else. I can't find an "EXEDY" clutch for the GT but they have it for a GS I only found in my research a ClutchMaster and Spec Clutch. Which one is better? or does anyone has different brand of clutch? Stage 1 is Good Enough for me but I dont know which one I could actually trust :[ |

I never heard of SPEC until I owned an eclipse. Clutchmasters has been around aftermarket for a while so I trust them. When i need a new clutch I'm going with their stage 3

Well is your car stock? Will you do any hard driving? I been using CM and ive been through about 3 or 4 stage 4 kits. But I think thats due to it being ceramic. If you plan on keeping your stock flywheel go with spec. If not CM. both of their stage 1s are organic. Id go with stage 2, its kevlar and last forever from everything ivr heard and takes a good beating.

and I looked on the disk I got from CM, it had EXEDY STAMPED ON IT. BUT THE GT ONLY HAS CLUTCHMASTERS, SPEC, AND A FEW COMPANIES THAT MAKE OEM REPLACEMENTS. opps, stupid phone put everything in caps

I think either would do you fine man. the only person who could truly answer this question is someone who has actually had both kinds in their car. Personally, I have a stage IV from clutch masters and it's been just fine. I'll also say, if you are going to spring for a new clutch you may as well get a stage II. it's basically the same price and will perform way better. If you don't tax your car very often then a stage II or III (same price) would probably last the remaining life of the car.

I tried both. The spec slipped and burned out on me, I had their hybrid one forgot what stage. I had a stock fw with it because back then they wanted like 600 for fidanza flywheels. Cm was cheaper to go with. Just get the right clutch for your needs

I drag race like twice a month or not even but I usually use it as daily driven. I feel like "Spec" has a low price cause of quality but who am I to judge? I just want to know what are the experiences of people who put a stage 1 on their car and how did it feel.

if you seriously drag race at a track or on the street, think seriously about a higher stage.

I love my Spec clutch. I've been using them since I started working on cars. Great price for a great product. Sometimes you have to remember you're buying a name.

I had both CM and SPEC on my car...and so far the best is SPEC but i have stage 3+. Smoother and less noise from the car (less rattling) Better grip and feels like the car is putting mor power to the ground...but i gotta hit a dyno for that. Easier to shift and hooks the gears way better. I also have the fidanza flywheel with it now. The CM took alot of beating so i give them props for that. I had the stage 2 MC with flywheel.

I went with CM because everything was sent together. The flywheel clutch alignment tool and bearing. I believe with spec you have to piece it all together..I'm happy with my stage 3 a little clatter with the flywheel is annoying but hey not like my car is quiet anyways

I went spec. I haven't put mine in yet, waiting for nitrous before putting it in and for the money to order a limited slip. I have a stage 2+ waiting to go in.

I still don't know why y'all need an alignment tool with our clutch. The disc sits in a plate with a lip lol only one spot it can sit in. I got spec with fidanza flywheel.

Didn't know until I saw it apart that it really wasn't needed but when the shop quoted me they told me to make sure I had all those things and I didn't feel like goin to the dealer to get the bearing and joe at auto city didnt know really how the fly wheel and spec clutch would match up and he said he had heard of a few issues. So he talked me into a cm and I'm happy so far

Spec all the way !!! I have a stage 2 with the fidenza lwfw I have put 50'000km on it so far and no notice in decrease off grabbing. I love it you can dd and your clutch leg won't get sore lol I would highly recommend the fidenza lwfw almost a must ! The stock fw is complete crap !! It preloads and robs power lol and as for thinking spec is cheep I would say inexpensive not cheep I race my car all the time up and down shifting at high rpm all the time.

I think Any issues with either clutch are either the mechanics fault or failure to let the clutch settle in.
