How aerodynamic are we?
So I have been curious lately as to wonder how aerodynamic the Eclipse really is. I wish that someone had the $$$ to get a wind tunnel test and see what could help drastically improve certain parts of the car for top speed. Anyone have any ideas or thoughts or know if RRE ever did one?

I have no facts or charts to base it on, but just looking at our profile we have to be pretty damn slick, I'd say. you lower it, then even more so.

yep, i think the Eclipse has a good overall shape for that. and top speed is definitely not restricted by aerodynamics, until we get rid of our speed limiter...

yep yep topping out at 138 is no bueno. but if someday we get it cracked...then the world shall know the potential of the 6g75...one day

Our aerodynamics suck drag coefficient is like .34 or .35 I think

look at it this way. the gs from factory due to drag and power is limited to 132

This is slightly better than average. Most cars are .30-.38. SUV's are roughly .38-.40. (give or take) Keep in mind that even some high performance cars have higher drag coefficients due to spoilers, bigger wheels, wider tires, etc...

would you say the aero kit would make it worse? Don't spoilers work to an effect if you can reach high enough speeds?

the aero kit might come into effect aerodynamically when you reach 350 mph
![]() i'm sure Mitsu never tested it in a wind tunnel, it's all about looks, and it does a good job at that !! |

I wish I could afford this, it would be cool because you can drastically improve 1/4mile times with aerodynamics.
