custom thermal/sound barrier install

Got done reading walias15's post in the Economy busters mod thread about using duct insulation as sound deadener. so i decided to try it myself.

this is the stuff i used, about $18 a roll of 15 feet. 1 roll was enough to do most of the rear area except the driver side, 2 would be plenty.

This is what i stripped it down to. The panel covering the latch comes out first, just pull the whole thing straight up. then remove the screws from the side panels. the little metal anchors in the corners have to come out as well. takes a little bit of massaging to get it to release from the panel next to the rear seats.

I didnt have time to try to do the driver side panel because you have to remove the sub to get to it.

then i vacuumed everything and wiped it down with some (Windex style) all purpose natural cleaner.

Here is how it started, went on real easy and the adhesive stuck well.

I would use separate pieces for the walls and floor of the spare tire cavity. it doesnt work as well if you try to bend it around the edges just fyi.

Finished install

i can tell a little bit of difference, i think if i had another roll and completely finished it it would have been great. and also fyi, the little tiny pieces i tried using dont like to stick as good as the larger ones.
