engine swap help

ok so i have recently got my hands on 08 2.4L gs. it is not fast enough my old project was faster than this, and im gooing beyond the edge of the web to find performance mods. what engine can i swap in that will have an abbundance of mods for me to choose from other than the 3.8L in the GT? just wanting to view my options but i am leaning towards the 3.8L. I am wanting to buy the engine in jan, so i can try to have it ready for the races this time next year hopefully. I dont want it ending up like my previous project. A 98 z71 that i tore up Off Roading and blew my engine. i rebuilt my engine, and ended up having to sell it. after my parents chewed me out about having an old truck. cost isnt an problem i have no bills other than my 300 a month car note. i can do all the work my self and as well as machining my self. so if yall would be kind enough to help a new member try and build an eclipse fast enough to keep up with my friends 650+whp 300zx TT that would be nice, and very appreciated!!

once in a while you see a 2g with rear-wheel drive and a small block v8. it would be one hell of a story if the same kind of thing was done to a 4g. the work would be ridiculous but i don't see many ways you could get that kind of performance with the standard drive-train. i'd like to hear how it turns out.

long story short, with money and time, anything can be done...
realistically, find another project if you need 650 whp...

unlike the old cars, there's a lot more than just the engine involved with a swap, because of the ECU and all that other shit... again, anything can be done, just not easy nor cheap..

i was thinking about rwd conversion, but thats a bit much. i could use my old 350 block i have thats alot alot of fab time that i really dont wanna put in haha. i tried looking around earlier today for a 3.8l and i cant find one anywhere. thinking some form of forced induction now and new pistons and cam might be ok with that. i just might buy a 2g and stripping it down and making that my show poney. hmmm what to do what to do. where can i find good performance mods for the 2.4l

Just mod your 2.5l. It's a good motor with plenty of mods. Turbo that bitch or nitrous it. Too easy.

ya nobody that i know of has done internals and tore apart the block with FI but the GS has a fuk ton of potential and could def handle a high boost and hit the 400 power mark and who knows mayb even more.

There may be a turbo coming out for the GS in the next 6 months. At 8 psi we would get 250 whp compared to the roughly 135 whp we get stock.

I thought about boosting the GS, and was just wandering home much boost the stock internals can handle. But my car is getting to the point where its fast enough for me

one of the problems is the weight differential between your friends 300zx and the eclipse. to get comparable performance numbers you would need a fair amount more horsepower than front wheel drive can handle. thats why i mentioned a rear drive conversion. didnt say it would be easy. epic if you could do it.

Can we please look up information before we make factual statements? How much weight reduction has gone into his friends 300ZX, because stock the thing is at most 500lbs or 1/4 of a tonne lighter than our inept fwds. In fact, the later model TT is only 100 lbs lighter than the heaviest Eclipse. So basically... we'd have to create the *exact* same amount of horsepower to compete. Our poor little FWDs can't handle more than 15 though.

Just to clarify, my comment was aimed at the guy right previous to my post, not you or your friends car. He had no idea what weight reduction has gone into that project so his statements are pretty much just puff.

hell man for what it would cost to swap, you should do what Carl and the guys are saying - build out your motor w/ forged components (you'd be the first GS to do so) and turbo that bitch to 15 -20 lbs!! It would be a monster.
